Sunday evening was cool

Just got home from recording at Rob's house. It really felt like one of our best shows. Our friend Amy co hosted and she was awesome. Well i guess i have to go back to my shitty job for the next 3 days. Hooray for me! Well I'm off to put Diana to bed. Have a great night everyone!

February please go by super fast!

Well here it is the last day of January. I gotta admit it didnt suck as bad as i thought it would. Despite being sick for the last week of January it really wasnt a bad month. I have a bad feeling about February. Its gonna be a tight month money wise. At least the first 2 weeks anyhow. Its really March I'm looking forward to. We should have income tax by then and theres a comic book convention in March as well. I can't believe i already got my t4 slip for taxes and Kath hasnt. Every other year its been the other way around. Actually one thing I am looking forward to at the end of February is the release of the new Kevin Smith movie Cop Out. It stars the coolest dude in the world Bruce Willis and the hillarious Tracy Morgan. It'll be our first live movie review for Get Your Geek on. Oh and the best part? I have enough points on my card to get in for free! Unfortunately won't get to see it until Feb 28th so i have to get through a whole shitty month before that. At least February is the short month. Ugh! Can we just skip to March now?

Being sick: The pros and cons

Well i guess there are pros and cons to being sick. On the con side i havent been able to taste anything for 2 days. Here's what really sucks about that. In December my team at work had won a contest. We won 3 ice cream cakes. Guess when they decided to give us our prize? Yup yesterday the first day of not being able to taste anything. Man that sucked. Which brings us to the pro list. Because i havent wanted to eat,i have lost all the weight i put on since November. I feel like shit but I'm looking good! Oh well such is life i guess. I just really miss tasting food. Fingers crossed my taste buds will be back tomorrow.

Someday my name will be on a bus.

Man i had a cool fantasy pop into my head the other day. No not a dirty fantasy. Not that day anyhow. So I've been noticing different billboards and banners on busses for different radio pesonalities and radio stations. It got me to thinking or fantasizing if you will. What if kath and i ever got paid for Get your Geek on and we became popular radio personalities. Out pictures might end up on buses. My ex friend who threw away 25 years of friendship drives a bus. How cool would it be to have my picture on his bus to rub it in. I think that would make me smile. I'm allowed to dream right? Maybe thats petty i don't know but i am still a bit hurt over what happenned last year between Colin and I. Oh well. Whatever. Yeah i think I'm a bit bitter==and thats ok.

Douche of the day

The second half of my shift was awesome and by awesome i mean shitty. I got to talk to an insane old guy. He spent the first 10 minutes of the call bitching about our main menu. He was seriously pissed off. So much in fact that when i asked for his name he said it was angry andy. He wasnt joking. I then asked him for the name of the account holder.
"angry pam." he replied

" and her real name?" i stupidly asked? He told me and followed it up with
"can't you put 2 and 2 together and connect the dots?" i proceeded to continue to verrify his information
"ok can i have your pin # or the last 4 numbers of your social?"
" I don't go to socials."
"uh the last 4 numbers of the social security number?"
"thats not what you asked. Don't you know what a social is?" Meanwhile I've been asking like that for 8 years and never had an issue with someone confusing the info.
So i finally get into the account and he starts yelling and saying that every representative in the company is a liar. He wants to know the name of the person he talked to before me.
"we don't put our names on the account but we do note the account whenever you call in."
"what does note the account mean?"
"really?"
"yeah I'm stupid."
"uh no one is calling you stupid sir." Meanwhile in my head I'm agreeing with the asshole.
"I am stupid i never went past grade one." Hmmm this explained a lot
"it means we put a note on your account anytime you call in."
So he starts going off because he has phone service and the account is in his wifes name and can't understand why the caller id also displays his wife's name.

"sir the account holders name is the name on the caller id."
"nobody told me that." Hmm how do i tell the guy its common sense? So he eventually hangs up and calls back and pretends he's his wife. Yes i followed his account for the rest of the day. What a maroon. Just another day at the office!

Jay is a whiny bitch when he's sick

I'n home at lunch and i feel like death. I finally caught the cold that everybody has. Diana has been sick for a week and now Kath and i both feel rough. Work is a stuggle today. I can barely concentrate. My head feels totally foggy. I may come home early today. Havent decided yet. What a day. I will probably take a whole box of kleenex back with me. I may end up using the whole thing today to.

Last night we did our weekly show and our friend Amy did a guest appearance. Went over pretty well. Amy also cut my hair and Diana's hair as well. Yeah the hair is still long. I know I'm 40 and should start thinking about looking my age but i just don't think I'm ready yet. I don't feel like growing up just yet.

Well thats it i have to go back for my last 4 and a half hours. Sure hope i survive.

No bastard customers for jay today!

Wow i really have neglected the blog this month. I'm having a really good day off. I feel like I'm geting a cold though. I've been lucky. Usually in the winter time i would have been sick already. I always seem to get sick aroung Christmas time. Diana is fighting a cold to.

Had a great day off yesterday as well. For some reason i kept running into people i used to work with at the donut diner. It was weird. Then i heard that lovely Air Supply song I'm all out of love when we were at the grocery store. That was the song that the bastard customers used to play over and over again at the diner. Man i hate that frigging song. Frigging Air Supply.

Just sitting here trying to come up with some stuff to talk about on the show this week. Think I'm going to break for lunch and watch some cartoons with Diana. We need to get some shows off of our dvr. It was up to 100 percent full this morning and i need room to tape some shows for Kath tonight. The Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica is on tonight.Man i hope it doesnt suck. I loved the new version of Battlestar Galactica. Anyhow hope everyone is doing awesome. I will talk to you soon

End of a craptastic day

Man another harsh day at the office. Glad to be home. Just looking forward to kicking back and watching tv with Kath. 24 is starting off pretty good again this year. Kath and i watched the first 4 hours.Jack killed a guy with a fire axe. That was cool. So pretty excited about the next few shows. Gonna have some of our friends guest on the next 2 shows. Working on ideas and songs for the next 3 episodes. Mayhit thats entertainment tomorrow to see if they still have old video tapes and try and get some crappy super hero movies to review for the show. Good times.

Poor Diana isnt feeling well and stayed home from school. Poor kid.

ok i will leave you with my favorite customer of the day. Now at work there is a rule if your name isnt on the account we arent allowed to access the account. Unfortunately if the account holder has passed away then we need to see a copy of the death certificate. I had a lady call in who wasnt on the account and her husband had passed away. I kept appologizing but i couldnt help her. She started yelling "why don't you go to heaven and ask him!" Seriously what do you say to that? My friend Trudy later aid how do you know he went to heaven? So then the ladt keeps screaming "supervisor now!" in my ear. I had no problems getting a supervisor but any time i tried to say something she kept screaming "Now!" so i called the supervisor and she hung up. I checked the account later and she had called back and said i was rude to her. Then she filed a complaint against me. Seriously what the hell? You were a bitch to me and now you're gonna lie? Yeah that was awesome. Anyhow the day is over. Thank God.

Jay rambles on about the weekend

Just gearing up to listen to the latest Get Your Geek on. For some reason I'm exausted. Figured I'd get a quick blog in. After the show 24 is back! A whoo hoo! Almost makes going back to work bearable. Yeah work continues to suck the life out of me. Oh man i pretty much got into a screaming match with a (how do you say?) major bitch Saturday afternoon. Her monthly bill was i think 80.00 with tax. Another rep not in the billing department gave her the monthly rate before tax. Of course the customer started going on and on about how everyone at our company is a liar. I told her i appologized and that the person she had spoken to wasnt trained to go over billing. It was someone she had gone to see in person and sorry they're just trained to take payments and hand out equipment. Of course as soon as i said this she went off on me and kept repeating what i had said. Then she asked me why that representative told her a different ammount. How the hell should i know why another human being said what she said. Then she said i didnt know how to do my job because i couldnt tell her why the other person gave her a different answer. Sorry but was i there for the conversation? Am i a mind reader? Do i have access to a deloreon to travel back to last week to ask that representative? Whatever. Those wacky customers.

Just waiting for Kath to come home. Sure do miss her. We're both asking for March 27th off for the toronto comic book convention. Even if we can't get press passes we wanna go. I could meet Buck Rogers himself--Gil Gerrard. Yeeha. Ok I'm pretty tired. Gonna go drink 2 or 3 cokes and listen to get your geek on. Have a good night!

The fun never stops at my job

Hey gang. Yup ut was an awesome day at work today. Let me fill you in on the 2 most annoying customers i faced today.

Shitty customer #1

So i had a lady call in pissed off because her kid ordered 100 bucks in porn. She wanted me to tell her all the titles out loud. Seriously. Can't we just leave it at they were adult movies,here's the prices, the end? If that wasnt awesome enough. She made me repeat them a 2nd time. Here's an exerpt of the conversation

crackhead: " can you go over them again?"
me : I'd rather not
ch: Well if youre not comfortable telling me maybe we should get a supervisor involved
me: sigh, horny sluts......

the 2nd douchy customer

I think the conversation between the craziest old man and me is self explanatory

Old idiot: "i can't get to your web site to make a payment."
me: I have an automated telephone line i can connect you to
o i: {starts yelling) "have you ever tried to use that thing its not easy."
me: (being completely honest and not trying to be a dick)" i have used that line sir an to be honest i never had an issue."
o i "i guess some people think they're God."
me: (confused) "i never said i was God I'm saying i never had a problem wit that line"
o i: " i never said you were God!"
me: "ok I'm not sure what you're implying then."
o i : "damn you're sensitive"

me:" No not sensitive but..."

o i : "you must be sensitive or you wouldnt take offence being called sensitive."

so a few minutes go by and he starts to swear. I give him the old if the swearing continues i will hang up the phone speech.

o i : "swearing is a part of life young man. In 30 years you're gonna be swearing as much as me." With that the crazy bastard hung up. Good times!!

Yup just another day at the office. Hooray for me.

Wiseguy rocks!

So lately Ive re discovered a series i hadnt seen in 20 years. THe name of the series is Wiseguy and it ran from 1987 to 1990. It was about an fbi agent played by ken wahl who goes undercover to take the mob down. He went to prison for 18 months to establish a cover. Awesome show. Recently i picked up season 1 for about 12 bucks. Can't believe how awesome that price was. Here's the part thats really cool. Up until now another company owned the dvd rights and they werent putting out full season sets. They would release about half a season and charge 50 bucks for it, What a rip off. I was thrilled when it was announced a full season 1 was coming out and that it was cheap! The show still holds up to. Theres nothing about it that makes it stuck in the 80's. I can't wait until season 2 comes out. Thats it for now.

The weekend re cap

Well its Sunday. Kath is at work and i am missing her. We got up early today to record an episode of get your geek on. We reviewed the 1996 movie The Phantom. It wasnt to bad. Work was ok yesterday. It wasnt to busy so i actually got to read my comics.One customer pissed me off. As i was explaining his bill he started giving me a stupid voice. I made it clear i wasnt going to take that from him. He was such a douche. I'm not looking forward to the next 3 days.

Hanging out with Yammy right now watching her Krypto the superdog dvd and eating mac and cheese. Yeah my diet is in the toilet. WIth the beard I'm growing I'm sure to look like Santa Clause in no time. Yay!

Can't wait for Kath to come home. Hopefully she will stay awake long enough to watch the Chuck season premere tonight. I think if i even look at the couch today I'm going to fall asleep. Yup I'm that tired. I think I'm going to go do some cleaning. Have a great day

Hurry up 24 season 8

Holy crap Kath is kicking my ass at blogs so far this year. Way to go honey! Not to much to talk about either. Just saw a few trailers for the new season of 24. Can't wait until Jan 17th to see the first episode. Seeing Jack Bauer kill terrorists will make me happy! Man I'm glad to get out of work today. You could tell in my voice on every single call i didnt want to be there. Came home did some night shovelling and threw in a load of laundry. Listening to Tom Petty. That box set is frigging amazing. Theres a really cool acoustic version of Learning To Fly on it. Good stuff. Tomorrow may suck. Kath has to be at work early so i have to walk Diana to school. Yup through all that snow. Awesome. Well i think im gonna go and work on some stuff for this weeks show and grab something to eat. Talk to you all soon.

Jay's first 2010 blog

Wow first blog of 2010. Took me long enough. Kath is already ahead of me--and she never blogs. So New years eve turned out pretty good. We watched a few zombie films with Rob and Nickle. Ate a lot of pizza. That diet should start again any day now. Honest! New Years day we had supper at my moms with SU and the kids. Was pretty cool.THe snow has sucked ass large over the last few days. I'm just not a snow guy. Diana loves it though.

We did our best show yet last sunday. I think we're geting a lot more comfortable. I'm saying um a lot less. So thats good. Also sat in on Rob and Matt's show again last night. That was pretty fun as well.

Work has been hellish. It has been crazy busy for all 10 hours of my shift on Saturday and Monday. All dumb asses if you can believe it. Anyhow gonna wrap this up and go shovel the driceway. Talk to you soon.
