Denied
So how else was i let down this week? Something I've been looking forward to for a year was taken away from us at the last minute. So if you've been reading the blog you'll know i'm a huge fan of singer Barney Bentall. For the last 2 years he has played locally at a place called the Old Winery. A couple of months ago tickets went on sale for his third appearance in as many years. Kath called about 3 weeks ago to order the tickets. No problem,it was all set. Or so we thought. The day of the show Kath checked out our credit card statement and noticed we hadn't been charged for the tickets. She called the old winery and nope they didn't have a record of the tickets being ordered. They also didn't have any more tickets to sell us. It was completely sold out. Denied. All i was looking for was 2 hours of music to take my mind off the van and my troubles. It felt like i had been kicked in the gut. I realize that i'm probably being way to dramatic about it but i really just wanted 1 thing to go my way. Hopefully he'll be back next year.
New stew mobile
Man i have not felt like blogging this month. It has been a really shitty month. Where to start? Well 2 weeks ago our van died. Rob took a look at it and did everything in his power to fix it. He estimated that it would take a thousand dollars at the very least to repair it. We;ve sunk so much into that p.o.s. van that it really wasn't worth it anymore. So Kath was able to sign us up for a car loan to get a mazda car. It arrived today. Its going to be a lot more reliable and its already a lot cheaper to fill up with gas. I'm not looking forward to car payments again but we need a car to get Kath to work and what not. I just want to thank our friends for all their kindness over the last couple of weeks. Nickle has been making a special trip into St. Catharines to drive Kath to work. I really appreciate that. I also want to thank Rob for looking at the van and helping us out with a trip to groceries. Didn't realize how much we depend on a car to get us places. The van has left the parking lot and is scrap metal now. Kath reminded me that we did have some good times with the van. It took us to Toronto and Rochester and even ohio. Its hard to think of those good times when it has let us down so much recently. I hope this new car lasts awhile. That would be nice.

Sushi
Stop the presses. I went to a restaurant and had something that wasn't a hamburger. Our friend Kate picked us up yesterday to take us to a sushi restaurant. Those of you that know me know i don't like trying a lot of new things. Kath and Kate made plans to go out and they wanted to include me. I like Kat so i wanted to hang out and wanted to give it a try. It wasn't bad. Its not something i want to try every day but it was ok. Funniest part of the afternoon? Diana tried white tuna and thought it tasted like white baloney. So thanks girls for getting me to try something different for a change
Suck it Chris
I just realized that this my 100th post of 2012 so i wanted to make it a happy one. We've been having a shitty month so far. Some issues with the van stalling and issues with the thermostat. Luckily for us Rob has been helping us. He knows his stuff. Thanks man for continuing to help us with our p.o.s van. Hopefully it'll be running again real soon. Somehow Kath needs to make it into work not to mention the Barney Bentall show on Wednesday.
Wow i did say happy blog right? Starting to make myself sad thinking about the van again. Anyhow we got some awesome news today. We will be definitely broadcasting from the Buffalo con in October! We filled out our application. We heard back from the guy running it and he wants some logos and bios from us for the comic con site. After the whole "Chris" fiasco from Niagara falls this makes me really happy. Someone wants to work with us. Its gonna be great. Sadly its 85 days away though. Rob is also upgrading our web site and its looking pretty awesome. Good things happenning for Gygo. Pretty happy.

Buh Bye sales
I started my new job last Thursday and i think its gonna be ok. It already seems less stressful. Basically we are calling people that have become new customers to see how their installation went. It was a lot of leaving messages on answering machines and there was only a couple angry people as opposed to the usual everyone is pissed off days I'm used to. Its scripted though so I'm gonna need to get used to it. I have new hours as well --9 am to 5:30. It'll take some getting used to. I'm working Tuesday to Saturday. I get Sundays off so i don't have to worry about the show. I think its gonna work out for the best and i don't have to worry about stupid sales anymore. Screw you sales!

The Heart of Rock and Roll is still beating
We started July off right. I got to see one of my heroes in concert for the first time in a decade. Kath and Diana and i packed up the car and drove to Artpark in Lewiston New York to see Huey Lewis And The News. I've been a big fan of the band since 1984 and the Power Of Love is probably my favorite song of all time. One of the first concerts i got to go to was Huey Lewis in Toronto in 1985 when i was 15 years old. Twenty seven years later i was taking my daughter to one of her first concerts and it was gonna be Huey. It was a proud moment.
I was at artpark last year with Rob to see cheap trick. It is a really nice venue. There was an opening act. Everytime the opening act finished a song Diana would ask--is this Huey Lewis now?
The News started their set around 8 and they covered their whole discography. For a 62 year old singer he still really rocked hard. The band played for 2 hours. The best part was we only had to pay 5 bucks a piece. It was awesome. Diana seemed to have a good time as well. Such an awesome night. In closing here is the setlist from the show.

New month different job
Well July is here. I now have a new job with the cable company which starts tomorrow. I'm going to be making outbound calls now. Yay. I get to call new customers and ask them how their install went. It seems easy enough. I guess i'll find out soon if it sucks or not. So my schedule has changed for the second time in 2 weeks. I will now work from Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. In the fall my manager says i can get a later shift so i can get Diana to school in the morning. I still get Sundays off so i can do the show. Hopefully it will be ok.
