kling kling!

Kath and i are very excited. We just lined up two of our oldest friends for the show on August 11. Their names are Kim and Trish. I met them 13 years ago when i was working at this shitty little dive called the donut diner. It may have been  my first or second shift. We became fast friends and they kept me sane many nights when it was just me serving coffee to drunk assholes. We took to calling each other the super friends. I can't wait till there on gygo in a few weeks. Its gonna be a blasty blast.

Boring is better

Had   a pretty good day with Diana Yesterday. We went  on a trip to macdonalds for ice cream and spongebob squarepants toys. I like our Mondays together. Unfortunately still not used to having Mondays off and its been throwing my week off.  Not sure what day it is anymore. It will probably take me a few more weeks to get used to it. Work has been boring. I would rather be bored than getting yelled at all day though.

Buh bye July

Last day of July. Ok it didn't completely suck. The van issue sucked and so did the loss of barney tickets. On the other hand the new job is good so far and i did get to see Huey Lewis and the News. Summer is going by so fast. Ugh its day 1 of 5 at work.Just said goodbye to the fam and i'm getting ready for work now. Enjoying a pop tart as we speak. Hope everyone has a safe  last day of July.

Amazing Spider man was amazing.

While I'm posting about movies i should mention the Amazing Spiderman. We got to see this one a few weeks back at the drive in. Now anyone that knows me knows i was totally against this film from the beginning. I was a fan of the Sam Raimi/Tobey Macguire Spiderman films. The 3rd film got a lot of flak. I liked it but it had its share of dumb moments. Too many musical numbers and too many villains. I always wanted Sam Raimi to come back and redeem himself with  a Spiderman 4. SHe got a script written to involve the villain the Vulture and the studio turned it down. Raimi quit followed by Tobey Macguire. Then came word that they would be rebooting the series, Spiderman would be back in high school again. "Bull shit" i cried. We don't need a reboot. This is the worst idea ever! I was not impressed and mentioned that on several Get Your Geek On shows.

I am a fan of comic book movies and i was curious about the movie. I was prepared to hate it. Funny thing is i didn't. I owe the makers of this movie an apology. It was a cool movie. It was the origin story again but i thought it was done in a better way. Andrew Garfield was an excellent Spider man/ Peter Parker. The movie was really well done. Can't wait for the next one.

Dark Knight Rises

So Saturday after work we finally got to see The Dark Knight Rises. It was the 3rd in the batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan. I loved it. I really am a big fan of these movies.  The new movie was great. The cast was pretty damn near perfect. I could have done without Christian Bale's fake batman voice though. Great plot, got a little misty eyed at the end. I wish there was gonna be a new batman movie set in this universe but Nolan has made it clear he was done.  To me its the first super hero trilogy that didn't fall apart in the 3rd film. The best review we can give it? Kath stayed wake for the whole thing.

Sunday was awesome

So glad its the weekend. The week at work really wiped me out. I still woke up early today but it was so we could run errands. We finally got to Queen city books across the border. They're the fine folks that are putting on the Buffalo comic con in October. We introduced ourselves to the owner and he was really nice. We can't wait to do the show from there. Can it be October now? The store had a huge garage sale and sold a lot of there stock for 75 cents a piece. Diana and i got a bunch of books. We did a little grocery shopping as well and came home at 6 to do gygo. Hunter and Kristen were our guests again and it went over great as usual. I still have one day off and get to spend it with Diana. Still have to get used to having Mondays of. I wonder if that will ever happen.

surprise!

Ok  as you may have guessed i didn't want a birthday this year. I was bummed about the van and the Bentall show and didn't want anything to do with a birthday. Kath was determined to give  me a nice birthday. She and Diana decided to take me to a restaurant near Hamilton called Tuckers. Its a buffet  and on your birthday you could eat for free. Ok i could deal with  a nice dinner with my family. We drove up and had a nice conversation. After we got out of the car to go into the restaurant i saw a guy who looked like our friend Mark, Kath and i have a joke where if we see someone who sort of looks like someone we know but isn't we will say oh look its not whoever. In this case i  said hey look its not Mark. Then i realized it really was our friend Mark  who was with our friend Kate. Kath had asked some of our friends to join us as a surprise to me. Ok that was cool. Then Rob and Nickle showed up. My wife was one sneaky chick. Then our friend Ryan showed up. I was very surprised and moved that  my friends came out. Then i got a huge surprise. A buddy of ours  named Adriel who i hadn't seen in about 3 years showed up with his girlfriend Holly. Soon another friend Mike who i hadn't seen in a few years showed up. We had a really good meal and talked a lot about old times. I had met Adriel and Mike years ago when i worked at the donut diner. They kept me sane. So thanks Kath for putting the band back together and for making me smile on a birthday that i didn't want to have.

Netflix now playing at the Stewart home

So we finally took the plunge and signed up for netflix. Netflix allows you to watch all kinds of movies and old tv shows. For months i didn't want to do it. Then Kath ordered it. Yeah i spent Saturday looking through 30 years of Saturday night live episodes. Nothing crazy about that. I have so much extra time to watch tv.

Phew. Work is back to normal.

Now thats more like it. Now i feel like i've come home again. For the first time in a week i got to talk to multiple angry customers. Ridiculous angry customers. I even had a porn dispute. It was just a matter of time. Some of the titles on the porn dispute? My Russian teen obsession and porn star pie. Ew. No thanks I'll stick with blueberry. It's ok though cause amongst the 300 dollars in porn disputes was 21 jump street.

Open The iris

Ok i had a great day doing nothing. Well i did some laundry and played catch with the kid and that was awesome to me. I'm in a pretty good mood. No vehicle issues and work is ok. Gonna spend the night watching tv with the fam and eating spaghetti. I'm ok with that. Gosh this blog is boring. I watched a bit of the original stargate movie from 1994. I don't think i've watched it in about a decade. Still cool. I saw it originally in a dollar theatre with my friend Scott. They should bring back dollar theatres.  It made me want to go re watch the entire Stargate television series. All 212 episodes. You know in my spare time!

See ya mopey Jay

Ok new week new attitude. No more being mopey or bitter. We have a vehicle that works now. That is cool. My job has been ok as well. Surprise. Haven't been stressed at all since the outbound calling started. I have Mondays off now. That feels weird because i never have been off on a Monday.  Sitting here watching tv with Diana. In a good mood. We had a great show last night. Life feels ok. Oh except for the fact i turn 43 on Thursday. Yuck.

Denied

So how else was i let down this week? Something I've been looking forward to for a year was taken away from us at the last minute. So if you've been reading the blog you'll know i'm a huge fan of singer Barney Bentall. For the last 2 years he has played locally at a place called the Old Winery. A couple of months ago tickets went on sale for his third appearance in as many years. Kath called about 3 weeks ago to order the tickets. No problem,it was all set. Or so we thought. The day of the show Kath checked out our credit card statement and noticed we hadn't been charged for the tickets. She called the old winery and nope they didn't have a record of the tickets being ordered. They also didn't have any more tickets to sell us. It was completely sold out. Denied. All i was looking for was 2 hours of music to take my mind off the van and my troubles. It felt like i had been kicked in the gut. I realize that i'm probably being way to dramatic about it but i really just wanted 1 thing to go my way. Hopefully he'll be back next year.

New stew mobile

Man i have not felt like blogging this month. It has been a really shitty month. Where to start? Well 2 weeks ago our van died. Rob took a look at it and did everything in his power to fix it. He estimated that it would take a  thousand dollars at the very least to repair it. We;ve sunk so much into that p.o.s. van that it really  wasn't worth it anymore. So Kath was able to sign us up for a car loan to get a mazda car. It arrived today. Its going to be a lot more reliable and its already a lot cheaper to fill up with gas. I'm not looking forward to car payments again but we need  a car to get Kath to work and what not. I just want to thank our friends for all their kindness over the last couple of weeks. Nickle has been making a special trip into St. Catharines to drive Kath to work. I really appreciate that. I also want to thank Rob for looking at the van and helping us out with a trip to groceries. Didn't realize how much we depend on a car to get us places. The van has left the parking lot and is scrap metal now. Kath reminded me that we did have some good times with the van. It took us to Toronto and Rochester and even ohio. Its hard to think of those good times when it has let us down so much recently. I hope this new car lasts awhile. That would be nice.

Sushi

Stop the presses. I went to a restaurant and had something that wasn't a hamburger. Our friend Kate picked us up yesterday to take us to a sushi restaurant. Those of you that know me know i don't like trying a lot of new things. Kath and Kate made plans to go out and they wanted to include me. I like Kat so i wanted to hang out and wanted to give it a try. It wasn't bad. Its not something i want to try every day but it was ok. Funniest part of the afternoon? Diana tried white tuna and thought it tasted like white baloney. So thanks girls for getting me to try something different for a change

Suck it Chris

I just realized that this my 100th post of 2012 so i wanted to make it a happy one. We've been having a shitty month so far. Some issues with the van stalling and issues with the thermostat. Luckily for us Rob  has been helping us. He knows his stuff. Thanks man for continuing to help us with our p.o.s van. Hopefully it'll be running again real soon. Somehow Kath needs to make it into work not to mention the Barney Bentall show on Wednesday.

Wow i did say happy blog right? Starting to make myself sad thinking about the van again. Anyhow we got some awesome news today. We will be definitely broadcasting from the Buffalo con in October! We filled out our application. We heard back from the guy running it and he wants some logos and bios from us  for the comic con site. After the whole "Chris" fiasco from Niagara falls this  makes me really happy. Someone wants to work with us. Its gonna be great. Sadly its 85 days away though. Rob is also upgrading our web site and its looking pretty awesome. Good things happenning for Gygo. Pretty happy.

Buh Bye sales

I started my new job last Thursday and i think its gonna be ok. It already seems less stressful. Basically we are calling people that have become new customers to see how their installation went. It was a lot of leaving messages on answering machines  and there was only a couple angry people as opposed  to the usual everyone is pissed off days I'm used to. Its scripted though so I'm gonna need to get used to it. I have new hours as well --9 am to 5:30. It'll take some getting used to. I'm working Tuesday to Saturday. I get Sundays off so i don't have to worry about the show. I think its gonna work out for the best and i don't have to worry about stupid sales anymore. Screw you sales!

The Heart of Rock and Roll is still beating

We started July off right. I got to see one of my heroes in concert for the first time in a decade. Kath and Diana and i packed up the car and drove to Artpark in Lewiston New York to see Huey Lewis And The News. I've been a big fan of the band since 1984 and the Power Of Love is probably my favorite song of all time. One of the first concerts i got to go to was Huey Lewis in Toronto in 1985 when i was 15 years old. Twenty seven years later i was taking my daughter to one of her first concerts and it was gonna be Huey. It was a proud moment.

I was at artpark last year with Rob to see cheap trick. It is a really nice venue. There was an opening act. Everytime the opening act finished a song Diana would ask--is this Huey Lewis now?

The News  started their set around 8 and they covered their whole discography. For a 62 year old singer he still really rocked hard. The band played for 2 hours. The best part was  we only had to pay 5 bucks a piece. It was awesome. Diana seemed to have a good time as well. Such an awesome night. In closing here is the setlist from the show.

New month different job

Well July is here. I now have a new job with the cable company which starts tomorrow. I'm going to be making outbound calls now. Yay. I get to call new customers and ask them how their install went. It seems easy enough. I guess i'll find out soon if it sucks or not. So my schedule has changed for the second time in 2 weeks. I will now work from Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. In the fall my manager says i can get a later shift so i can get Diana to school in the morning. I still get Sundays off so i can do the show. Hopefully it will be ok.
