Looking ahead

Ok its later in the day on Monday. Diana is fine. She's eaten a bunch of stuff today and hasn't thrown up. I've been asleep off and on since 10 or 11. I still feel a little rough but I'm not as achy as i was and i think I'm going to eat for the first time today.

Just realized its the last day in February and my last week working for the cable company. Training starts next Monday. I don't know how i'm gonna get up at 6 in the morning.

I'm really looking forward to March. Kath and i will be celebrating 10 years of marriage. Can't believe its been that long. It sure doesn't feel like it. We're gonna celebrate by going out to dinner and seeing Barney Bentall. Thanks again mom for the tickets.

We also have wizard world. We had such a great experience last year and hoping for more of the same this year. Going to see who will be interested in doing interviews with us. We can't wait.

Ok gonna go eat and get back to the couch. Hope everyone is having a nice day.

No work for the Jaymeister

so it looks like I'm using a sick day today. Diana was throwing up all day yesterday so i want to make sure its out of her system. This will work out for me as well because i now feel sicker than i did yesterday morning. If it was just me being sick i would have gone to work. Because Diana was ill i'd rather stay home so i can monitor her. Usually Kath has to convince me to stay home when I'm sick.

My day started off awesome. Our garbage can tipped over--i put it out for garbage pick up. The bag that had kitty litter in it split open so yay cat poop everywhere!

I really did feel better last night so i don't understand why i had a relapse. The show was great. Kath's friend Don was on the show and he knows his stuff. It's always awesome to meet a fellow geek.

Anyhow I'm gonna crash on the couch now. Perhaps i will blog again later

Sick Sunday

SO all of a sudden last night i started to feel like total crap. This came out of nowhere. My throat felt like i had swallowed sand paper and i got all achy with the chills. I bundled up on the couch and fell asleep.

I woke up this morning and i feel a little bit better. The chills are gone at least. Then Diana wakes up and she starts throwing up.. SO yay for us! she says she is ok now. We'll have to wait and see. I'm gonna go lay down now. I'll keep everyone posted on our health.

did i mention i hate snow?

Seriously where the hell did this snow come from? I woke up and it was blowing around everywhere. I figured it was going to be a snow day for the kids at school. That was not the case. Diana still had to go. There was a snow day a little while ago and it wasn't half as bad as this. Kath says it only started snowing around 6 in the morning. I woke up at 7:30 and it was already horrible.

Anyhow i got Diana off to school.Hope it clears up later as i have stuff to do. I'm taking it easy at home. I wish i had just kept Diana at home with me today. I can't wait until i get her. I can't wait for Kath's day at work to be over also.

Hey there. This blog is coming to you live from the day job. It's been a rough day mainly filled with screaming senior citizens. So I'm gonna try and put myself in a good mood by mentioning some cool things happening for the show.

We kind of have a mini studio in the basement now. Rob rigged up a mixer and some mic's. The show is sounding awesome and we don't even have to leave the house.

We submitted our request for press passes for this years Toronto wizard world. Looks like we're in. Trainrek radio is mentioned on wizard worlds page (that's us!) as being media for the show. That makes me extremely happy. Who knows maybe this year i will get to interview a Sith lord or a kid in the hall. I can't wait. Less than a month away. IT will be epic. Well that's it for now. It's back to the phones for me for another hour and a half. Did i mention i only have to talk to these cable assholes for 7 more shifts. That makes me happy baby!

Family day 2011

Today was family day here in Canada. Family day was a holiday invented 2 or 3 years ago. Basically its a day off of work to spend with your family. Kath and Diana and i went to pizza hut for the all you can eat lunch buffet. It was pizzatastic. It was the first time in awhile that the three of us got to spend a whole day together. We joined up with Rob and Nickle and their family at the buffet. It was pretty cool. We came home and watched the new All Star Superman cartoon movie. It was an awesome day. I love my family a lot. The Stewart Family rules!

Another shitty Saturday of unruly customers has come to a close. I'd like to tell you about my favorite redneck of the day. He actually used the phrase "I'd pay 5.00 to watch flies screw." Then he asked me to schedule a technician to come to his house. I'm in the billing department so i'm not able to do that. I offered to get him a tech but instead he shouted into the phone 'you're an ass.' Then he hung up. Gosh i'm gonna miss these wonderful customers when i start taking cell phone calls.

Happy to be off work again

My days off yesterday and today have been pretty awesome. The weather was really warm. Only thing that really sucked was that there were a million puddles due to the sun melting the ice. Since it was so nice i decided to take a walk downtown, It was about an hour round trip. I took my i pod for entertainment. Got a good workout. Was sweaty as hell but it was ok. I picked up my comics and got home in time to pick up Diana from school.Rach called before i left and we walked to the school together. Rob and Nickle picked up up for Diana's ballet class. I hung out with them for a bit.

Today Diana complained of an earache so i kept her home with me. Just did chores and relaxed. It's back to work for me tomorrow, Hooray.

Welcome to cell phones Jstew

So i got my official walking papers from the cable company. Starting March 7th i start training for cell phones. I think it will be ok. Not liking the getting up at 6 in the morning for training though. My friend Deb is also in the class, We're waiting to hear if Kristin and Trudy will also be joining us. It's a 3 week training period and i think March 29th we start taking calls on the floor. I am looking forward to trying something different but i am a bit nervous. It will take some getting used to. Hey now i don't have to call in sick on March 7 to go to the convention. Good times.

yelling at customers

So i almost got written up at work yesterday. A customer called in on Tuesday and asked for a supervisor. So what else is new. I was going to get him a supervisor after i checked the notes to see if i could de-escalate the call. I was being really nice and it looked like an easy situation to fix. So i started to tell him what i needed to do to fix the situation and he started hollering and being a douchebag. I still remained calm and tried to explain that i was a senior rep and was trying to understand what the situation was. He then went on a loud rant about supervisors and how dare i try and help and blah blah blah. So finally while he was ranting i cut him off and loudly said fine i will get a supervisor please hold. But then the a-hole hung up before i got a supervisor on the line. There was a whole history on his account about him hanging up on people. So i checked the account out and he got a rep right in Virginia and proceeded to tell them that i was yelling at him. The notes said they would have me reported. Pardon my french but fuck that. I was actually trying to help the guy.

The next day my supervisor takes me aside and tells me how disappointed he is in me. I told him i wasn't yelling at the customer. He says i raised my voice and you could tell i was pissed off. I'm not gonna lie i was pissed off. So i am never gonna try and help anyone again if they are requesting a supervisor. I wasn't written up but was told if it happens again i will be. So i just have to keep my nose clean for a month until i get moved over to cell phones. Thats it for now but i'll be back later with more tales from the darkside

Oh Mondays why do you suck?

Welcome to Monday/ What a day from hell. I got to work and tall the seats in our row were taken up by people who don't normally sit in our row. So i wasn't able to sit with my friends and that makes for a long ass day. I think my first call of the day pissed me off right away. I had a headache within an hour of being there. It was awful plain and simple. Oh yeah and my headset didn't work properly. I couldn't hear properly. I finally got that issue fixed. It just wasn't cool. I'm happy to be home. Waiting for my family to get home. I know that will cheer me up.

Oh good another live billy joel album

Wow Billy Joel is a dick. I've been a fan all my life but man what an idiot. So as you know from an earlier post its been about 20 years since he had an all new album. There's been plenty of greatest hits and live albums with the same songs over and over again. As a matter of fact it was announced this week that he has yet another live album coming out in March.

Anyhow his friend and fellow tour mate Elton John has called him out on it. He wasn't being a jerk about it and was actually showing concern. Seems that Billy has a drinking problem. He's done rehab a couple of times in the last few years but apparently it was at a place that didnt make you do anything and of course it didn't stick. So in a recent interview Elton pleaded with Billy to please get some help before its too late. Billy's response? Well that's just Elton being Elton. What a douche. I hope he does get some help and maybe just maybe it will finally inspire him to be creative again. I've been a fan of his since i was 10 years old and would love to hear at least one more classic album.

Short hair again

Well i got my hair cut again. It had been awhile and i was toying with the idea of at least growing it to my shoulders. In the end just got it cut short. Thanks to hair cuttter extraordinaire Hot Amy for the trim. Amy came over the other night with Marcus and Rob and Nickle and we had nachos and watched V. It was pretty cool. Kathy and Diana also got awesome new do's.

new opportunities

The other day i had my first 0ne on one meeting with my new supervisor Peter. I was very impressed.He seems to know what he is doing and was very cool. He did confirm that yes i would be one of the reps who would be moving to the cell phone game. I'm kind of excited to try something different. Lets be honest the customers aren't getting any better where i am now. Pete said that wherever i do end up moving to he will see if i can get a schedule similar to what i have now. No one is sure when we are going but i am hoping for late march. Then i won't have to 'call in sick' to go to the wizard world con. I'm hoping the training is going on then. Training doesn't happen on Saturdays so i would be clear to go to the con. Yup thinking ahead.
