Happy New Year!

Hey I'm sitting here with my family watching old clips of DickClark eating cookies . I wanted to wish everyone an excellent New year and i hope my friends and family have the best 2013.

2013 resolutions

Ok the moment i know you have all been looking forward to  Jay's 2013 New Years resolutions. But first a recap of last years resolutions

Jay's 2012 new years resolutions

1) I'm dead serious about losing weight this year. My short term goal is to lose 10 pounds before Wizard World in August. I want to lose at least 20. If i cut all the crappy food i should be able to do it. Fingers crossed

2) i want the show to keep going. I want more interviews this year. I want to broadcast live from assorted geek events

3) ok i know i need to chill out at work. I hate the job but i have a family to support. If i have to be there i should try and be happy about it

4) i think i should take another crack at inventing time travel. I want to travel back to meet the guy who coined the phrase "the customer is always right." and punch him in the balls

5) ok i'm running out of party of 5 actresses to have a 3 way with. I think Paula Devicq who played the maid is still left so lets say her. I do have the full support of my lovely wife Kath. Seriously.

So how did i do?  Well lets see

1) i did lose the weight!  Then i gained it all back! The first part of 2012 i stayed on track and lost some weight. Then i gave up. It was a stressful year between the van and new car and losing a tooth and a cat among other things.

2) Well we did keep gygo going. We switched to a 3 hour format in March. Many friends came on the show. We got to broadcast live from Pulp comics on free comic book day. We also did a live show at the Buffalo comic con. We were invited back to Wizard World and i got to interview the lovely Catharine Mary Stewart as well as ask Scott Bakula from Quantum Leap a question. Besides my family  doing the show is where i get my greatest happiness from.

3) i was actually able to chill at work a little bit. I got switched to making outbound calls to new customers. Not all the customers are angry like before so the stress has gone down a bit.

4) yeah the time travel thing never panned out. If it had i would have gone back to the 1970's to buy all the toys i trashed as a kid so i could re sell them mint in the box in 2012. I did get my kid into Back to the future which is a movie about time travel. Does that count?

5) Believe it or not i wasn't able to convince Paula Devicq that a three way was in her best interest.  So i am 0 for 4 at bedding actresses  from the smash hit show Party of 5.

Ok its time for the 2013 resolutions

1) take the weight off and leave it off. Gut is srting to look really big now and drooping over the belt. Not cool. Very Boss Hogg like.

2) I want gygo to get bigger and better. I want more live show and more convention opportunities. Some more celebrity guests would be cool. I want to have a good time doing the show.

3) A new job? Less stress would be a good thing.

4) Join Bruce Springsteen on stage to sing Badlands?

5) Would love to take Diana to another concert--maybe another 80's hero!

6) Do a better job of keeping in touch with friends then i've been doing. Life is to short. My friends make me happy.

7) try to have a better year than 2012 turned out to be

8) well i am out of lead actresses from party of 5 to have a three way with. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lacey Chabert, Neve Campbell and Paula Devicq all didn't happen. So with the magic of imdb i will search for someone who was a guest star on Party of Five.  Well lookee what we have here. Patricia Heaton from Everybody loves Raymond was a guest star on 3 episodes. Ok then maybe a 3 way with her. As always i have the love and support from my lovely wife Kath.

New Years eve 2000

My thoughts are going to New Years eve 2000. I was working at the Donut Diner--a crappy coffee place that was open all night. My stupid boss wouldn't let me have the night off even though  i had asked for it off 3 months earlier. Oh yeah it was new years eve and there were no customers. I was pissed. Lucky for me i have awesome friends so Kath and Mike and Kim and Trish and Salena showed up. They brought booze and food and it was cool. There were no customers so i didn't have to do any work. I was cranking the radio and  i remember the station i had on playing Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen. Then the one low light of the evening happened. My stupid boss showed up--drunk out of his skull. He parked his car  in the middle of the drive through and left his lights on. We hid all our food and booze and i pretended i was busy. He  gave me the old 20 questions and asked why there was no customers. Hmmm maybe because it was New years eve you jack ass. Anyhow he eventually left and i rang in the new year with my friends and future wife.

New Years 1992

Just sitting here thinking back to some past new years eve adventures. Twenty years ago tonight was the famous night where John and Dennis and Andrea and bunch of us pretty much trashed a hotel room. Somehow we rented a hotel room and got way over the top hammered. AS the night progressed  people started removing clothing. Unfortunately no females were among the people doing that. Then we started singing tv themes and imitating scenes from the opening credits of shows.

One of the guys there named Chris who was quite the alcoholic started a  fight with 20 guys in the next room over. That was fun. Then a couple friends started wrestling and broke a bed and the one guys thumb. Another guy dragged a dead Christmas tree into the room. It was a crazy night. Someone else stole my friend Andrea's  bottle of booze and started drinking it in the bathroom. Andrea went all Sonny Crockett and kicked the door down,  I remember waking up the next day with a horrible hang over  and thanking my lucky stars that i didn't put a deposit down on the room.

I miss Joe Carter

So i was flipping the channels today and got to watch something that i never thought i would get to see again--The Toronto Blue Jays win the world series. No it wasn't a new game it was game 6 of the 1992 world series. It was the first of 2 world series victories. Man i remember it like it was yesterday. I remember cheering really loudly in our house. It was an awesome feeling. Our guys finally won!  Unfortunately after 1993 the team quickly fell apart and hasn't made it back to the playoffs.  Someday i hope. I'd like to take Diana to a game. We used to go all the time before she was born. Still it was good to see the game again and relive a great moment from 20 years ago. Yup just made myself feel really old with that statement.

The Hunters rule

So i do want to thank Hunter and Kristen for the awesome Christmas gift they dropped off. Sitting on our porch tonight was a lego set that included batman and for some reason Aquaman fighting mr freeze! It was pretty cool. We're going to put it together and place it on top of our Gygo fridge.  Thanks a lot you guys.

A little reflection on happier times this year.

Ok i hated 2012 that's no secret. I do admit that there were some nice things that happened to me this year. I got to take my daughter to see Huey Lewis and The Monkees. I got to ask Scott Bakula a question at a Quantum Leap panel. Elvis the dog came into our lives. I got a job that doesn't piss me off  as much. We got to broadcast live from The Buffalo con and free comic book day. It wasn't all bad i guess. I still can't wait for the year to be over though. One more day.

Happy birthday Nez and Davy

Happy birthday to my favorite Monkee, Mr Michael Nesmith. So glad i finally got to see him in concert in November. It would have also  been his band mate Davy Jones birthday who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. Here's hoping you guys make the rock and roll hall of fame next time voting comes up!

Sunday

Had a fantastic lazy Sunday. I got to sleep in. That rocked. I woke up and had breakfast and watched tv. The end. Diana was really awesome and helpful today. She Cleaned her room and didn't complain. My kid is great.

Ryan came over to do the show. It was our end of the year extravaganza. It went ok. Kim was supposed to be on as well but she got sick. Hope you feel better soon Kimmy! I still have two days off. Kath goes back to work tomorrow but she is out early. I think i may sleep in late again. One day left til the end of 2012.Man i hope 2013 doesn't suck.

Saturday off with the fam

Staying up planning our year end Get Your Geek On episode which we will air tomorrow night. Spent the day relaxing--after shoveling of course. Watched a whole mess of tv. We took most of our Christmas decorations down with the exception of the tree. Thinking of taking that down tomorrow. Yeah i know--before New Years eve. F it. Not in the mood to look at it anymore. Diana was really awesome today. She helped me tidy up and brushed the snow off of the car. Man i love my family. They help me through the hard times.

Good times in Rochester

Ok it hasn't been all bad lately.Yesterday was pretty cool despite the cracked windshield. We took a trip to Rochester to visit Kath's family. Not only were we seeing Kath's dad and wife Margaret but for the first time in 3 years we were seeing our niece Charlene. Its a long story. It was really cool seeing her and i felt very old. She is almost 20 years old. and she's so tall now. When i first met her she was just a little girl younger than Diana is now. Man time flies.

As an added bonus Kath's best friend Ulana and her family were in town as well. We hadn't seen them since we visited Ohio 2 years ago. We went to dinner with Kath's family and friends and it was really cool. Lots of great conversation and joking around and now we want to visit Ohio again--possibly with Elvis the dog. We had a great time and even got home at a descent hour. Great day that Kath and i both needed.

Stupid wind shield.

And this year continies to suck ass. Yesterday as we were driving around we
noticed there was a gigantic crack in the windshield. Because we can afford to get that fixed. There's only 2 days left this year. Can i please have something good happen? No sign of our cat yet either. Not a happy camper.

Starlight

So I am feeling really sad right now. Our cat Starlight has gone missing. Somehow she slipped out on Christmas eve, I tore the house upside down looking for her. She's gotten out before but we've always found her. Its snowing outside now and i feel sick to my stomach and  i've cried a bunch of times. My family has told me not to give up yet and that she may find her way home soon. I've heard numerous stories from friends about their cat disappearing for days and then turning up. I'm really trying to be positive. I haven't even told Diana yet. Kath is gonna make up some flyers. I'm gonna keep looking and praying. Poor girl.

December 25th

Well it turns out Christmas day was alright. Diana woke us up at 9 am which wasn't to bad. She opened her gifts  from Santa and from us and she loved them all. We had a great Christmas dinner at my sisters. My mom and step sister were there as well. I ate way to much. Mom gave us some gift certificates. It was a nice day but I'm still glad Christmas is over.

How i spent Christmas eve

Well its Christmas eve. The presents are wrapped, cookies for Santa are out. I  watched the new holiday movie Harold and Kumars Christmas. There's an hour and a half i ain't getting back. What a horrible waste of a movie. It was worse than a very brady christmas--hell it was worse than Batman and Robin. People paid money to see that movie? I feel sorry for them. Wish i could un see that movie. So bad.

Merry Christmas

Despite hating the holidays i do want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. I do look forward to Diana opening presents and seeing my family. Can't wait til the day is over. Yup i am scrooge.

Elvis fits in

A quick Elvis update. So elvis has gone from barking at me everytime i enter a room to getting excited when i come home. I came home for lunch the other day and when i left he was looking all over the house for me.  He still barks at anyone who isn't the stewart family. Both the cats like him but still hate each other. Go figure. He is a dog so he gets into food all the time and garbage. I guess thats what dogs do, I really like having a dog here in the house though and he really is a friendly guy. Diana loves him and he is protective of her. Thats the main thing.

Christmas--ugh

Christmas eve and still have that bah humbug feeling. I guess I'm not alone. None of my friends or family are feeling it this year. I know its wrong but i just want t to be over. I did have a great time with John and Rach on the gygo Christmas special last night. Can it be December 26th already?

Hooray for Steve

In a very good mood today. My manager Steve came to the rescue and gave me the afternoon off to attend Diana's Christmas concert.I was so thankful.I got to spend a couple of hours with Kath. Diana was gtrat in the show. She knew all the parts and dance moves. It was very cool. So yes i am in very rare goood mood and no still not looking forward to Christmas.

Concert blues

In another example of 2012 sucking ass--just found out i might not be able to go to Diana's Christmas concert. Every year her school has 2 shows, 1 in the morning and 1 at night.I've always been able to make it to the evening show. So we've been waiting to hear about show times and finally tonight the night before the concert we get the times--10 am and 2 pm. No night show. I'm going in to work to see if i can get  some time off to go. Hopefully my work will be cool with this. Can it be 2013 now please?

week til Christmas

Well its a week until Christmas and I'm not feeling it. Diana and i put up the tree and decorated it today. Its been a crappy year. I'm a tiny bit excited because Diana can't wait but that's about it. Just want this year to be over. Yup I am captain downer

And it looks like we made it to the end--of the monkees review

So getting back to the review. Yes the Monkees played their own instruments. Peter Tork was probably the best musician on the stage. He played guitar, bass, banjo and keyboards. Dolenz was so great on the drums and probably had the strongest voice of the three. I seriously couldnt believe that  hey were all pushing 70. they sure didn't act like it the way they were moving around the stage and what not. They even played the entire soundtrack to their film Head. Nesmith kicked ass on Circle sky and tork rocked on Do i have to do this all over again. Following that we were shown a video montage of Davey Jones interviews which made me tear up a little. As soon as it was over and the lights came on we heard the beginning of the best known monkees song that Davey was a part of--Daydream Believer. Kath had a hard time with this as Davey was her favorite and she went through a little bit of kleenex. I have to admit it was sad. So who would be singing the song? Mickey  then said they couldn't sing it as the song didn't belong to them anymore. They invited a fan onstage to sing it. The encore included Nesmith's Listen to the band and the classic Pleasant valley Sunday. It was such a great show. I've seen about 150 shows in my life give or take. I would rank this in the top 5. I had such a great time and the smile on my face never went away. I really hope this isn't the last time we see these guys play together. I hope that one day these guys make the rock and roll hall of fame. They certainly deserve it. I finally got to see Michael Nesmith in concert. I can now die happy--when I'm a much older man of course!!  Before i go here is the setlist for this 2 hour extravaganza.

Hey Hey its my 950th post!

Wow. Just realized this was blog entry 950!  Wow almost to 1000 posts. I can't believe i still write. I guess i can blog about something cool that actually happened in November. Not sure why i haven't done so yet. Anyhow on November the 18th Kath and Diana and i went and saw the Monkees in concert at the university of Buffalo. My good friend John was going to go but had some issues with  getting a passport. I know he felt bad and so did i because its something i would have liked to have shared with him. Maybe  the two of us can catch a show together next year. Unfortunately no one else we know likes the Monkees so we drafted Diana.

So i blogged about it before but this really was going to be a once in a lifetime experience. My favorite member of the band Michael Nesmith was returning for a 12 city tour. He really hadn't joined in on any of the past reunion tours. He had played with them maybe a dozen times since 1969 the year i was born. The last time he shared a stage with the others was  in England in 1996. Unfortunately another member of the band David Jones had passed away earlier this year. It was sad to think that he wouldn't be there  but was really excited to see Mike. I'm a huge fan and even own his solo albums. I've always wanted to see him play if not with the monkees then  maybe a solo show. I never thought i would get the chance.

Anyhow the big night came. We took a detour before the show to visit our friend Hollie who also lives in Buffalo. Also at Hollies was a couple friends of Kath who she hadn't seen in awhile--Amanda and Missy. I had met them once before and they are pretty cool. As a matter of fact they were going to the show as well and were actually in the front row. After the visit we were off to the show. The auditorium was pretty cool and there really wasn't a bad seat in the house. We were in the balcony and had a great view. I  would love to go back there for another show. Great acoustics as well. Before the show on a big screen behind the band stand they were playing old music clips from the Monkees tv show. It was awesome.

The lights went down and the back up band came out--including Nesmiths son who played guitar. They kicked into an instrumental melody of some of the Monkees hits while clips and pictures filled the  screen in the background. Lights went down and  as the announcer announced Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork  and Michael Nesmith three spotlights came down and there they were! The place went nuts when they announced Nesmiths name. He got the loudest applause of everyone. They quickly kicked in with their first single Last train to clarkesville. A smile came to my face and didn't leave for the next 2 hours. Next up Mike sang lead vocals on Papa Gene's Blues. I have to admit i wasn't sure beforehand what to expect. Mike hadn't played live in years. How was he going to sound? Well he sounded awesome. Throughout the night i think he sang 10 songs--many of which they hadn't played in years or never at all.

Seven songs in the lights went out again. On the screen they played one of David Jones songs 'I wanna be free.' Kind of a sad moment. The crew was setting something up when this was going on. Then the lights came on and there was a new drum set in the middle of the floor and the backup band was gone. Only people on stage were Mickey and Peter and Mike. They then did an impressive set from their album Headquarters. Headquarters was the first album they were actually allowed to play on. The studio only let them sing and not play on their first 2 albums. Anyhow anyone who ever thought they didn't play their own instruments should have seen this set. So cool.

Anyhow gonna let Diana use the computer I'll sum up in my next entry

Rambling on a Sunday night

Hey its December. So far not a fan. I was sick for over a week. The weather has been awful and work has sucked. How are you?  Had a fairly descent day. Had a great episode of Gygo with  our good friends John and Ryan. Always a pleasure to have those guys on. They know their stuff that's for sure. A bunch of people have joined our Gygo face book group in the last few days. We're up to 175 people now!! So close to 200.

I'm off tomorrow. I hope this week goes by fairly quick. Not looking forward to work this week. We added another 9 people to our little group at work. Some of them our huge air heads. That's putting it nicely.

Elvis is  fitting in pretty well. He does like to bark at new people that visit. He is really protective of Diana and i appreciate that. He seems to love Kath and i now and even Starlight the cat is used to him. Merlin still not a fan. Just hoping Batman the neighbour doesnt complain again about the barking. Dog does like to walk outside though. Anyhow thats all i got for now. I'm going to sleep. I'll try to write more soon.

Hate for November

Last day of November. Did i mention how much i am hating 2012? I'm gonna be so pissed if those mayans were right.I want 2013 to be the year of the stewarts. I want to know what its like to have a run of good luck.  Maybe i'm just to depressing for my own good but with few exceptions this has been an awful year. Fingers crossed that its gets better in December.

Diana's wishes

Ok even though i'm having a horrible day Diana just made me smile. She told me that a month ago she made 2 wishes and they came true so now she could tell me. She wished for a dog and snow. Love that kid.

Snow and sickness

I went back to work today and it sucked. I'm still sicker than a dog and felt groggy all day. Then late in the afternoon we got the first snow of the year. I know we live in a country where snow is mandatory but would have been nice to have some advance notice. Boots would have been nice. So November ends like it started. Shitty. I'm about ready for this year to be over.

The Force is with us

So i'm an excited little nerd. Remember i wrote about the new star wars movies? Well i guess some writers were hired to work on the new scripts. One of the writers was a guy by the name of Lawrence Kasdan. Why does this make me happy? Well not only did he write the best Star Wars movie--The Empire Strikes Back, but also my favorite movie of all time- Raiders Of The Lost Ark. As far as i'm concerned this guy gets a lifetime pass from me. I think that as long as there's no Ewoks in the movies then we are in for a treat.

Sick Jay--again

Ok so i woke up so sick today that i had to stay home from work. I was up all night having trouble breathing and i hurt all over. Its awesome when you are so sick that your ribs hurt. Don't get me started on the coughing. I'm not a fan of being sick or staying home from work. I have to go in tomorrow even if i am bleeding from all openings. Yeah that was a pretty gross visual.

Facebook giveth--and facebook taketh away

And we are down members again. We are still up a bit  but lost 20 members between yesterday and today. Sigh. We will get to 200 members someday. Oh yes we will.

This is heavy!

Proud papa right here. So i guess Diana really liked the Back To The Future movies. She has been quoting the movies when she plays!  She was playing with her Littlest Pet Shop figures. One was saying 'what are you chicken?'' She made the other one say--"nobody calls me chicken!"  It was so cool!!  It was like having Marty Mcfly in our home!!  She has also been telling me she wishes she could invent time travel and she wants a hover board! Oh yeah she also drew the  alternate time line document that Doc drew in Back To the Future 2. It was so cool when she was explaining it to me. She rocks!

Thank you facebook!

Facebook finally did something for good and not evil!  So few months ago a bunch of people got kicked out of our Get Your Geek on facebook group--for no reason. Anytime i went to add people back i would get a message stating i couldn't add a former member back--they would have to request it themselves. So i got a hold of a few people and they added themselves back. Anyhow i woke up this morning and all of a sudden 30 members were back! I'm not sure if that was everybody  that got kicked out but it made me very happy. We are three people away from 200 members! Very excited. Now back to the couch!

Sick day take 2!!

Wow i'm having another crappy day. It was supposed to be a great day. I booked the day off just to spend the day with Kath. I had a rough sleep last night. Kept waking up, I had the chills. I woke up  this morning and usually on my days off i will go with Kath to take the kid to school. I felt  horrible. I was coughing up a lung and felt achy. Looks like i was going to spend the day on the couch. Before i could make it to the couch though there was a knock on the door. It was my awesome neighbour Batman. I'm using the word awesome sarcastically.  Anytime he knocks on the door my first thought is always-'oh crap what does he want know?' It's never good. On this glorious sick day he made small talk until he told me i should try and get our dog to not bark so muck. Its disturbing his family. First of all the dog doesnt bark inside anymore secondly he barks at squirrels when he is outside. So mighty Batman what do you propose i do? Go out side and make sure i hide all the squirrels so he won't bark? Ass. This is the same guy that thinks we have rats and hippos  living in our yard. F him. I never complain about his landing strip of lights outside signalling  the mother ship. Maybe  he should keep it down so i don't have to hear him and his wife going at it really loud. Douche.

Anyhow i fell asleep on the couch with Elvis for four hours. What a way to spend the day. Kath let me sleep. She was definitely looking out for me. I still feel crappy and am already calling in sick tomorrow if i still feel this bad. Hooray!!

What a day

What a day. Went back to work today--sicker than a dog. No offense Elvis. Felt groggy all day. Nose never stopped running. Some people from the head office came down. They were nice enough to buy us a pizza and lasagna lunch. Luckily for me the cold hasn't effected my taste buds--yet. Came home and went with Diana to walk the dog. We had to cut that short. Diana fell down and hurt her chin and knee. Brought her home and cleaned up her knee. Then i laid on the couch the rest of the day. Like i said what a day.

Maybe if Mr Feeny is on it

I just read something awful. As a matter of fact it may signal the end of the world as we know it. Apparently there is a sequel to the tv series Boy meets world planned. Apparently its a bout the kids of the characters  Corey and Topanga.  NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Make it stop!!  My eyes!! why god why?

Sick man

So my five days of vacation is done. What better way to celebrate than by getting sick! So not only do i have to go back to work tomorrow but i have a massively sore throat. Its perfect for talking to customers!! I am bitter. I'm gonna go have a big hot bowl of chilli. That should be good on the ol' throat.

Its running time for the Jaymeister

Things were definitely cool with Elvis today. Man he gets excited when we go for a walk. As soon as i say the word walk he starts jumping higher than Diana. I ran with him for almost the whole time today. Diana said it was the fastest time she had ever seen me run. I realized it was the first time she had seen me run. I don't run. I'm not a runner. My legs might not be so forgiving tomorrow. I think this is gonna be really good for me. I was gonna try for more exercise after Christmas anyhow so might as well start now.

Video store open yet?

Oh dear Lord!!! The 5 dollar video store is still closed!  Oh the humanity. Why? I miss that store so much.I need to buy more movies that i don't have time to watch.

Did i mention i own a dog?

Day 3 with Elvis. Less barking. Elvis met Merlin the cat. Didn't know Merlin could growl that loud. I took Elvis for 2 walks. I really think its gonna help me get in shape. He really is a friendly boy and he really loves Diana. He has become her shadow. We did Gygo with Kim and Trish, He was pretty behaved for it. He came down and ate all the cats food but he was pretty quiet. I really think this is going to work out.

Great scott!!

So three weeks ago Diana decided that she wanted Saturday night to be movie night. She wants to watch a dvd and eat pop corn. So we have watched all 3 of the back to the future movies over the last 3 weeks and she has really enjoyed the, I had to explain a little bit to her but she pretty much understood everything. What an awesome kid. She has decided that we will move on to the Indiana Jones movies. I think i'll actually start her off with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It kind of reveals Indy's origin and  shows him as a kid and i think Diana will like that.

Hello Rochester

About a week or so back we took a trip out to Rochester. You might know it as the former  home town of Kath and current home town of Kath's father and step mom. We hadn't been since May and we feel kind of bad about it. We used to go at least once a month. Anyhow we had a really nice visit with the fam. We also managed to catch an early evening movie with our good friend Rose. We saw wreck it Ralph which was really good. Had a nice meal afterwards and got out of there kind of late. I was considering calling in sick to work the next day but i made it. It was a really cool visit and we are talking about  doing it more often in the new year.

Elvis day 2

Ok we had our first full day with Elvis the dog. He's getting a little more comfortable with us. He's still barking a bit. Diana and i took him for a walk at our local park and i feel like we bonded a bit. There was no barking the whole time we were out, He really is a good boy. Hopefully he'll see that we  really want him to be part of this family and we'll be nothing but kind to him. Our cats our hiding. Actually Starlight has been a bit braver. She was laying on the couch near Elvis. Diana really loves him. I think it'll all work out in the end. I still can't believe i am now a dog owner.

Calling Elvis

So another four legged friend was added to the Stewart family today. We adopted a  7 year old half lab/half border collie. I can't believe it. Kath and i have always wanted to own a dog--since we were dating as a matter of fact.  Our daughter Diana was not a fan of dogs. Magically 2 or 3 months ago All of a sudden she was a huge fan of dogs. Kath and I decided we were going to look into getting a dog next year. We were going to do the research and find a dog that liked cats and kids. Easy task right? A few days ago our friend Trish mentioned on facebook that she was  moving to a smaller apartment and had to  get rid of her dog Elvis. Long story short Elvis lives here now. He is a nice dog and  loves Diana. He's still getting used to me and has barked at me a little bit. I know he probably misses Trish and has to get used to living somewhere new. Wish us luck.

Christmas party

Day one of five days off in a row. Did some running around with kath. We got some comics and stuff. The highlight  of the day was Kath's work place Christmas party. It was the 4th time i have gone. By contrast i haven't gone to one of my own parties. Gonna miss my tenth paty in a row. Why bother now right? Anyhow i got to sit with our friends Kim and Nick and met a really cool girl that Kath works with named Shannon. Unfortunately as great as it was seeing  our friends, the meal that was served was horrible. The roast beef was really shiny, the vegetables were hard and the pop tasted like ass. The salad was good but its hard to mess up salad. To sum up it was disgusting. I'll go to the next one though.

Barney is back!

So 2 weeks ago i found out  that my hero Barney Bentall had an album coming out November 18th. I am slipping in my old age. Now it was cool that i only had to wait a week after i found out about the release but it was announced back in September. I remember in the days before the internet i knew the release date of  every album  and movie. I was up on things, Oh well. Long story short i picked up the cd and it is amazing. Its a little different then previous releases. Its very folk influenced. Lots of fiddle on it. Really no songs sounding like his older albums. Thats ok. I like when a musician can change album to album. Thats one of the things i love about Springsteen and Neil Young. I hope Barney tours again really soon. Still pissed  about the ticket mix up last summer.

Welcome to November.

Hi and holy crap i haven't blogged in 20 days. What the h? I'm usually up on things. All i want to do after work now is relax and  eat supper. I don't hate blogging just haven't made the time for it. I know that's sad. Work has been tiresome this month. I have an extra three days off this week. Since i work for an American company they are closed on American Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Hell I'll take extra days off. The job isn't rocket science but I could use the extra rest, Sleeping rules! Gives me extra time to spend with Kath as well. Our schedules still aren't syncing up. Oh well. More to report later. Hoping to get in about 22 blogs in the next 12 days. Hope to reach that goal.

October turns into November.

Last day of October. Not sure if it was a good month or not. First  half  of the month  was blah. Worried about  stuff that worked out eventually. Kath working late shifts. Just  felt like it took forrever to make it through the month. I didn't even feel like blogging until last week. November should be cooler i hope. I have the Monkees show and  a bunch of friends will be by to do Gygo. Hope the weather improves.  Hope everyone has an awesome November. Cheers

Up all day but having fun!!

I feel like i haven't slept in a million years--but in a good way. I  booked the day off of work and got to hang out with Kath. We woke up really early--8 am after going to bed at 3 am. Yeah we are nuts. We got Diana ready for school and imediately headed off to the U.S.A. We did some grocery shopping, had breakfast and headed back.

At one o clock Kath and i went to Diana's school to get her ready for Halloween. She didn't need any help with her costume--she already had it on. Unfortunately their parade was cancelled due to the weather. Kath and i came home and watched the very funny Will Ferrell film the Campaign. Then we picked up the kid and went to 2 comic book stores. That's right two!  We had dinner at Burger King--it was whopper wednesday baby!

A couple of hours later i took Diana out trick or treating. Hooray it wasn't raining!!!  We went out longer than we usually do and for the first time the kid was really comfortable with trick or treating. She wasn't scarred of anything. It was really cool. I'm about to watch some tv with Kath and call it a night. I'm working 2 more days and then i have saturday off!!  Good times!!

Movember again

Well I have decided to shave for  the Movember event again. Kath is running a team this year. I hate shaving but it is for a really good cause. I actually shaved tonight. Beard is gone and i have a mustache. I think I'm gonna go  for the Hulk Hogan/porn actor mustache. Good news,i get to have the mustache for Diana's parent teacher interview night. I will probably look crazy. I do what i cn for the good cause. If it helps get rid of cancer than i'm ok looking ridiculous for a month.

F U power hour

Could this day get better? Star wars announcement,Awesome report card from Diana and to top things off--I think the power hour at work might be done. It hasn't been done in a few days. My ear drums haven't bled yet this week! I sure will miss it. The yelling and screaming about selling crap. Its so great, Nah just kidding. I ain't gonna shed a tear over that train wreck of an hour. I'm so happy.

Cheap video store will always be on my heart

I am having a really hard time dealing with the possible loss of the cheap video store. Where else can i find catwoman for five bucks. Ok bad example,

That stupid storm sucks

I seriously hope this shitty weather levels off tomorrow. I really want to take Diana trick or treating. It has been raining pretty steady for the last 4 days.  Her halloween parade at school could also be cancelled. Fingers crossed it isn't. I definitely will feel bad for all the kids.

As a back up plan we will take her out to dinner in her costume. She is dressing as one of the My Little Pony gang.

The storm has been scary. I count my blessings that our power hasn't gone out or that we havent experienced flooding like a lot of people have. The winds around here were crazy last night and i was so worried about Kath who had to drive home from Niagara Falls. It stopped  raining for a bit today so i hope its ok tomorrow. I booked the day off of work to do the parade with Diana and will be sad if it doesn't happen.

The report card that rocked!

I am a proud papa tonight. Just read Diana's report card and it kicked ass. It was great reading about what an excellent student she is and it made me extremely happy. I'm so glad she takes after her mother in the smarts department. I can't wait for parent/teacher interviews on November 8th. Love my kid so much.

Leia is now a disney Princess

Huge geek news today. Disney bought Lucas film and is planning a new Star Wars trilogy to begin in 2015. Thats huge. I didn't think we would be seeing another Star Wars movie in my lifetime. I'm very excited. A lot of people i know are pissed. Not sure why. Disney also owns the marvel comics characters and they did alright with a little movie called The Avengers this last summer.  I have faith that this could be cool. Its probably the biggest story we;ll report on Gygo, Good times.

Alas poor video store

Have i mentioned how much i hate the cheap video store being closed?

Gygo At Buffalo con 2012

Wow i was just looking through October blogs and can't believe i haven't blogged about the Buffalo con yet. It was held at the Buffalo Marriott hotel on October 7th. We've been going to this convention since 2001. As a matter of fact the first time we went was the day after Kath and I got married. This year we were going to promote get your geek on. We had a booth and everything.

We had been in contact with a really nice man named Emil who runs a cool comic book store in Buffalo called Queen city books. He gave us a discount on our table. Right from the get go i felt comfortable. He was willing to work with us and i felt welcome. It didn't feel like i had to jump through hoops like our experience at Fan Expo and The Niagara Falls con. As a matter of fact after we had set  up helpers from the con came by and asked us if we were ok and if we needed anything. I thought it was great. It was the little things that made me happy. For example there was a place holder  card at our table that  just said Get Your Geek On-guest. We were the only people at the niagara falls comic con in 2011 that didnt have a card. I felt really welcome. I would work with these guys again in a heartbeat. This year they really expanded. They had another room opened up and  their own artists alley. They even had their first costume contest. Everyone was so nice. A really great experience. Thanks to Emil and his staff for a great experience. Thank you to Kath for going all out on the table and thanks to Ryan who designed our  new  business cards and designs for our website.

why video store,why?

Have i mentioned that my favorite 5 dollar video store is closed? Man i even got super man 4 the quest for peace from there. Not that that is a good thing. Maybe 5 bucks was to much for that one.

Rainy Monday

So as i wrote earlier is a horrible rainy day. Its ok though. Diana and i spent a nice night eating soup and watching the animated film Justice League Doom. In it Batman came up with plans to defeat his fellow justice league members. What a dick. Did some laundry, cleaned my bathroom and have my flashlights ready to go in case the power goes out. Just another day at the office.

There's a storm front coming.

Man. I've been reading about Hurricane Sandy. My thoughts and prayers are going out to all the people affected by this storm. It looks horrible. I'm hoping it doesn't hit us. There have been some warnings from the red cross. I guess people on the east coast of Canada may get hit. We may just have a lot of rain for the next few days. Its been raining here for the last 3 days.  I want to go get some extra batteries in case we have to flashlight it. If the storm is headed your way then please be careful.

Geekgasm #2

As i the trailer for iron man 3 wasn't enough. I got to see the new trailer for  a Good Day To Die Hard. Yup the 5th Die Hard movie. Die Hard is one of my top 5 films of all time and it is my favorite action movie series. Love Bruce Willis as John McClane! This time he goes to Russia to save his son Jack. That movie comes out on Valentines day. How romantic.

Geekgasm #1

So you guys get that i'm a nerd right? Anyhow this week saw the release of the first trailer for Iron Man 3. It doesn't come out til April. Looks like it picks up where Avengers left off. Iron man is messed up after the events of the Avengers. Based on first impressions i think that this is going to be the best Iron Man movie yet. Robert Downey Junior is the man. Can it be April now?  The trailer is so very cool. I must have watched it 20 times. So excited!!!

Spidey with the kid

I mentioned recently that we got Netflix. Its all the rage. There's a huge selection of tv shows and  movies. Just wanted to share what Diana and I have bonded over. A cartoon that i watched back in the 90's. Spider man. Its quite a good show. I saw about a season and a half originally. It was on 5 seasons. Not sure why i missed  3 and a half seasons. Anyhow Diana and i  are on the last of 65 episodes. She has really enjoyed it. We are currently looking for another animated super hero seies. Kind of leaning towards  iron man from the 90's. I never saw it and it was only 25 episodes. I love teaching my kid about geeky shows. Warms my old geeky heart.

Awesome lazy Sunday

Just came off of a pretty good day off. I slept in until afternoon. I really needed it. I hadn't gotten much sleep lately and I had a killer head ache. So the sleep did me good. Watched some tv during the afternoon with Kath. The night ended with Adriel and Kim returning for another appearance on Get Your Geek On. Love those guys.  Known them both since the donut Diner days. They really are my super friends. Looking forward to my day off tomorrow. It's been raining a lot lately. Sure hope it lets up tomorrow.

Now I'm a Believer!

One thing this month that did make me happy was--we got  tickets to see the Monkees in Buffalo on November 18th!  So i wrote here on the blog back in August that Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz were actually reuniting with Mike Nesmith. Nesmith hasn't done any shows with them since 1997. I figured i wouldn't be able to get tickets. We almost didn't.  Over a month ago tickets went on sale when we didn't have any cash. I read reports how all their concerts on this mini tour were selling out. I figured there was no way in hell i was gonna be able to see this once in a lifetime concert.

Two Sundays ago  i see a message that Buffalo isn't sold out. I mentioned it to Kath and She asked if i wanted to go. The downside was we would have to wait until the following Friday when i got paid to see if there were any seats left. I was getting extra money for working Thanksgiving.  Ok still a longshot because there was only a couple hundred tickets left and we had to wait a week.

While we were waiting for Friday, Kath asked me if i wanted to ask John  my friend of 30 years if he would be interested. I knew John was a fan and a huge Nesmith fan as well. John was in. Long story short, we got the tickets. I can't wait. I am so excited and its my first concert with John in a decade!

Five dollar video store. Sigh.

My new favorite five dollar dvd store sent us an email that they will be shut down for awhile. How do i feel about this? See enclosed Darth Vader pic.

Burger King Adventures

So Diana and i have been going to Burger King for the last three Wednesdays. Its whopper wednesday where the whopper burger is cheap! Diana loves the whopper. Its been the first time she hasn't gotten a kids meal of some sort.

Tonight when we were at the ol' King we ran into my friend Allison and her family. It was cool seeing them. I can't believe how big her daughter has gotten. We used to write letters to each other back in the day and i remember her writing a letter to me saying she was pregnant. Man time flies. I guess she still reads the blog and everything. I feel as if i have been really slacking off as here it is almost the end of the month and i have barely blogged. Anyhow thats about it for now. Whoppers rule!

Another annoyance

Yup making up for lost time. Another annoyance this week. So the complex installed new doors and door bells into all the homes here. Yesterday they kept screwing around with the new doorbell so much that  there was a continual buzzing for like 4 hours. Kath came home at 1 in the morning and managed to fix it. She's awesome that way. More bitching coming up? Your guess is as good as mine.

Working on Hoth

Wow mid October and I have yet to blog for the month.  I guess i'll start Octobers blogs by doing some good old fashioned bitching. You'll never guess in a million years what I'm about to complain about. Nah just kidding its about work.  Rather the lack of heat at work. So for the last week its been absolutely freezing at work. I have been wearing 2 pairs of socks, a hoodie and a jacket over that. I don't take the jacket off for the whole shift. Sometimes i can't feel my hands. In fairness they did try to turn the heat on. Unfortunately there is some sort of toxic fumes that occur when the heater is turned on. Not cool. So the choices are freeze or be poisoned. I guess the heating ducts need to be cleaned. Work ain't ponying up for that. Cheap bastards.

Dvr blues.

Hey did i mention I'm cooking chicken wing dip? Just checked the dvr and literally 10 shows recorded tonight? Why is all our shows on Sunday night? In 2 weeks there's another 3 sunday night shows on top of that. We don't have that  kind of time to watch all those shows. Seriously. What the h? Ok now on to that chicken wing dip, See ya.

See ya September

Just realized its the last day in September. I'm looking forward. to October. Buffalo con is going to be sweet next week and actually looking forward to Halloween.  I can't believe the year is almost over. Where does the time go? Anyhow i'm off to eat that chicken wing dip and watch Family Guy.

All star gygo

Having a great evening and it could have been bad. We did a show with Hunter and Kristen--their first as a married couple. Kath was producing and when she went put our music on the broadcasting system  it started randomly playing music  we never programed. We couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. We sent texts to Matt and Rob. Matt tried some stuff and we were free to begin--with 5 minutes to spare. Kath was awesome and got the set list done. Mid way  through the show John Bulmer surprised us with a visit. We had 3 guest starts. It was like gygo all stars. It was pretty cool. Ended up having a great night. Just settling in with some chicken wing dip and tv. Kath has to work tomorrow. I wish she was gonna be here with me. Oh well at least its a short work week for me. I  booked Saturday off. Good times.

900

Holy cow i just noticed that this is post 900.  Can't believe it. Who knew i had so much to say? In a lot of cases i don't. Can't believe i still blog. Its still a good outlet for organizing my thoughts. Can't believe its 2 in the morning and i'm sitting here rambling.

I had such a boring day. I was the only one in my group that worked today. I nodded off a few times.  Wasn't anything to keep me awake. No one to talk to and work took reading between calls away again. As a matter of fact we can't even write stuff down or have pen and paper on the desk anymore. I guess the terrorists have won.

Looking forward to Sunday. Kath is selling stuff at a craft show in the morning so going to go help her with that. In the evening Kristen and Hunter are our guests on gygo. Should be cool

So a big thanks to anyone actually still reading the blog. The blogs may get boring from time to time but i really do try to keep it entertaining. Maybe i'll actually make it to blog number 1000. Fingers crossed

New business cards!

The new business cards are here! The new business cards are here! Did i mention our nw Gygo cards arrived? They look really nice  and just in time for Buffalo con. Our buddy Ryan designed them. Pretty freakin' sweet. I can't wait to show them off!!

Make it so!

Holy crap. I just read that its the 25th anniversary of Star Trek The Next Generation. I remember hearing the announcement that it was being made. I remember how everyon esaid it wouldnt last compared to the original. The series was on tv longer than the original  star trek. Wow its hard to believe its been that long.

Wii

So i forgot to mention that Diana has started playing wii games with me. We finished  a whole batman game last week and now we've been playing lego Indiana Jones. Man those lego games are fun. Kid is pretty good to. Whenever she dies on the game she says that the game cheats. It's pretty funny.

Not sure if i mentioned this already but we've been watching The  90's Spiderman cartoon as well. I used to watch it but i must have missed a bunch because theres some i don't remember at all. Kid is loving those as well. My little  nerd.

Last minute states trip

We had a fun filled visit to the states last night. Well it started off suck as we got pulled in to the border so our car could be searched. But we got some cheap groceries and finally picked up  a copy of the Avengers on blu ray, Ha ha finally. It had only been out for a day at that point. We got it at Walmart in the states because it came with an exclusive graphic novel. It was a pretty good deal. Came home and watched a bunch of tv until i started to fall asleep. And thats how our evening went.

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Happy Avengers dvd release day!

The Avengers is out on dvd and blu ray today! I believe we are going to walmart in the states tomorrow to pick it up. They are giving away an Avengers comic with it! i can't believe its out  to buy already. When i was a kid it was at least 2 or 3 years before a movie got released for home use. We  had our good old fashioned vcrs in those days. Good times. I can't wait to pick up the dvd. Tere is bonus material galore. I just have to get through another long day of work.

Monday morning.

Its Monday and so far not a bad day. I'm no longer sick  but unfortunately Kath is. Sorry  hon. Also we are getting a new front door installed today. Pretty cool. I had to put our car starlight upstairs with the door closed otherwise she would try to bolt outside.  Its a little chilly in here right now as the door is in the middle of being replaced.

Had a pretty good show with our  artist friend John last night. The guy sure knows his comics.  Looks like next week Kath is producing again and Hunter and Kristen will be  our guests. Probably start planning the show today. I'll do a little tidying up as well today. Days off are great.

Its 2 more weeks until we are doing our show from Buffalo con. We are so excited. Its going to be so cool.

That is where my head is at so far today. In a great mood, I think i'm gonna go nap. I love my days off.

Happy birthday Boss!

I say this every year but hey its true. Happy birthday to   my favorite boss, Bruce Springsteen. I'm 20 years younger than him and i know i don't have his energy. Hope he continues to rock for many more years!

The worst buffet ever

We had a less than thrilling dining experience last night. We were in the states and had some exra money so Kath suggested the Ponderosa buffet. Ponderosa is a restaurant that has never let me down. We used to have one here in St Catharines when i was a kid and i remember some awesome dinners their with my family. In the 90's i discovered  Ponderosa in the states courtesy of  my good friends John and Rach. The buffet was awesome and there was always an awesome selection. I've gone a few times since Kath and I have been together and we always left satisfied.  Until last night.

The food was awful and  stuff  like mac and cheese had no taste. The chicken looked slimy.the pizza was salty and the desserts runny. The evening was capped off by going to the washroom and seeing a sink full to the rim of vomit. Yummy. We have never vowed that Ponderosa is off limits and gross. Felt ill after we left and couldnt get  the bad taste out of my mouth. Think i will stick with cheap macdonalds.

Still sick

I went back to work today. I still felt brutal and pretty much kept myself medicated all day. Starting to feel kind of better, Hopefully tomorrow i'll feel better, I don't have a whole lot to say. Just sick. I think I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow after work. I lead a boring ass sick life.

A Sick Jay is not a good Jay

Well the cold got the best of me today. I felt like total crap--and still do actually so i  called in sick to work. I hated doing that but obviously i needed it. I slept all day. Nose won't stop running.I even needed an extra blanket on my bed.It sucks. I have to go in tomorrow. I get 10 sick days a year and that was number 6. I had to call in before when Diana was sick or couldn't  find a baby sitter.  I'm hoping to feel better after a good nights sleep tonight. Have another 3 shifts this week before i can sleep in again. I couldn't even concentrate when i was there yesterday. At one point i blanked right out and began to wonder whatever hpapened to the cast of party of 5. Not a good thing.

John Carter you suck

Spoke to John Carter on the phone today. I should have told him his movie stunk. Ha ha. Seriously John Carter stole 2 hours of my life i will never get back. Stupid movie

Sick Jay

Ugh. It's official. I got my first cold of the season. I feel rough. Oh well what can you do. Found out we are getting a new front door. So that'll be nice. Head is so foggy right now. Work sucked today. Power hour is getting on my last nerve. In awesome news--on Facebook i had a discussion with Adriel and Kim and Trich about the show and now all three are coming back for the same episode. Haven't had 3 guests at once before. Oh and its the halloween show. Cool beans. Yup  i am sick. I just used the expression cool beans. Time to lie down.

Weekend for Adriel

A couple of weeks ago had a great weekend with our good friend Adriel. I'd seen him at my birthday and lined him up to be on the show on September 2nd. We got together  the night before to watch some movies and had a great meal. Watched Get The Gringo and Savages. Had a great time and great conversation. Promised to get together more often. Great guy, Had an awesome show. Kath produced it. Show is already up on our website. Actually lined up his next appearance  earlier today. Can't wait.

Grade 2

Man almost at the end of September. I have sucked at blogging. I forgot to mention that my baby girl has started grade 2. I can't believe it. I remember taking my four year old baby to her first day of junior kindergarten. Felt so old. She's getting more homework than she used to. She's growing up so fast. Pretty soon it will be high school. Yuck. I can wait for those days. She does  like the grade 2 though.

Writing

Holy crap i have been slacking blog wise. I'm gonna try and pick up the pace this weekend. I got home from work a little while ago and I'm trying to work on a commercial for our friend John Bulmer.  He hands out our cards and advertises our show when he draws at conventions. Figured i should return the favor. I wrote an updated intro to our show as well. Hopefully i can  get these recorded soon with Kath doing the voice work. Well i'm going to go get some dinner ready for Diana. I will be writing again sometime this weekend. I hope

Lucky 13

Thirteen years ago tonight i met my best friend and future mother of my child. Kath and i went on our first date September 11th 1999. I still remember her looking cute in her plaid dress  bringing me a plate of cookies. We also saw our first movie together the Sixth Sense. Here we are over a decade later and I couldn't be happier.

Fan expo recap

Well its the last blog of August so thought i would talk about this years fan expo. Last Saturday  i attended the con with Rob and Ryan. I've been to every fan expo since 2001 and this was my fifth  with Rob. It was Ryan;s first. I was looking forward to introducing Ryan to the festivities. The only thing is you never know what you are going to get. Its a crap shoot. Two years ago we had one of our worst experiences but last year when we went it was pretty awesome. The verdict this year? Unfortunately it wasn't so great. It was jam packed and not a lot of room to move. Did i mention i'm not a fan of crowds? Also the fan expo staff for lack of a better word sucked. Not helpful at all and so unorganized. There was an autograph sesion for the cast of the new Green Arrow show. It didn't cost anything so i decided i wanted to go. We got in a very small line and a few minutes later were told we couldn't get in unless we had a special ticket. So i asked how we could obtain one? Seems we had to be at a special screening of the arrow pilot a few hours earlier to get one. Hmmm. The  ad on the website said nothing about a special ticket. So pissed. It was just chaos in there.

It wasn't all bad. There were some good highlights,

1) Ryan was like a kid in a candy store and it was fun seeing his reaction to  things

2) a lady name Lisa a.k.a. nerdbiskit was there. She makes various nerdy crafts and we have interviewed her before on the show. I went to her booth to buy some things for Kathy. I mentioned who i was and she gace  me the stuff for Kath at no extra charge. So nice. Oh and she's really pretty. Kath told me that before i met her and  hey it was true.

3) There was a doctor pepper booth there that was handing out free samples. At the end of the day i got a big bottle of pop for free. I guess they were trying to unload their stock. Win for me!

4)There were a lot of cool costumes there this year and the people were really nice when Ryan and i took pictures of them.

5) I found the first 2 hard to find issues of Adventure Time for Diana. Here's how much i love her. I spent ten dollars an issue for them. I figured it was the last day her friend Courtney was going to be in Canada and i wanted to get her something to cheer her up. It did

All in all i had a good--not a great experience and i will really have to think twice about going next year. Still stings that we can't get a press pass from the. Hey the Buffalo Con is willing to work with us. We are even mentioned by name on their site. Suck it fan expo

Buh Bye 10 hour shifts

Yes! No more 10 hour shifts!!  Done! I seriously ran out of gas with 2 hours of shift left. I started to fall asleep at my desk. It was horrible. I made it though. Just got home and i am relaxing. Diana just got here and Nickle presented me with a Batman potato head! Thank you Rob and Nickle. You guys rock! just gonna blog and work on the show for a bit. I will probably blog again later. Oh yeah its the last day of August as well. I just realized that. I am so tired

Go Clark Go!

Got my comics yesterday. Superman and wonder woman are doing it! apparently thats a bad thing. Booster Gold came back through time to stop them from hooking up and couldn't do it. Then he was erased from existence. Ha ha. I am such a nerd. Seriously though  clark and diana are getting it on in the new continuity.

Arem't the 10 hour shifts done yet?

Yuck. My third 10 hour shift. To quote the great Danny Glover, I'm getting too old for this shit. It was worth it to come home and play will with the kid again. Also had some awesome blueberry pancakes that my lovely wife made for me. One more long shift. I can do it. I think.

Cheer up sleepy Jay

I am very old. I almost fell asleep at my desk at least 5 times today. I also couldnt concentrate and mind drifted off to other stuff all day. This was because i worked a ten hour shift yesterday and was doing so again, I stayed awake long enough to make fun of the power hour. I'm home now about to enjoy some supper and tv with Kath. Hope i can stay awake long enough to enjoy it.

Wii with the kid

Yesterday was a proud moment for me. Diana and i played a video game together for the first time. Batman the brave and the bold on our wii system. The kid loved it--so much in fact we played it again tonight. Yesterday was such a lazy day. Laid around all day watching tv. We ventured out  around 6 to go get ice cream. Was a pretty cool day actually.

Best friends

I'm feeling bad for Diana. Let me explain. So three weeks ago some of Nicole's relatives from Ireland came for a visit. One of the relatives was a little girl named  Courtney. Diana really hit it off with her and they became the best of friends. They were inseparable for 3 weeks. They played qute a bit and went to Marineland. Diana even had her first sleep over. They got best friend necklaces and everything. Unfortunately Courtney and her family had to go home to Ireland a couple of days ago. Both the girls were really sad but they will keep in touch through letters and face book and what not. Kath and i both know what she is going through. One of my best friends lives in England and Kath has a friend in Ohio. I get it. Long distance friendships are hard. I really feel for the kid. The good thing is that they both made a friend for life. The friendship doesn't have to end.

Ten hours of hell

I am beyond tired. This week i have to do four ten hour shifts. Our department is closed this coming Saturday. Instead of letting us enjoy an extra day off we were told we have to make the hours up. I could have worked an extra day--yesterday on Monday or do  the 4 ten hour shifts. I originally chose to work Monday but then found out i didn't have a babysitter that day. Did my first ten hour shift today and now i am exhausted. I had a couple of really bad calls right at the end. One guy wouldnt let me talk. His service wasn't acting properly. I tried to send him to the technical department. He said i was condescending for trying to do that? I don't think he actually knew the meaning of that word. Oh well i am home now waiting for Kath to get home. I'm not going to see much of her this week. She is working until 11;30 at night. Sucks for us. Oh well what can ya do?

The power hour

Well my former billing department has gone nuts. All they care about now is sales and now they are threatening to fire people if they don't make lots of sales. So glad i got moved out of that department.

For the last 2 days 2 of the supervisors have tried to drum up sales by having something called the power hour. What is the power hour? Well its an annoying hour each day where they walk up and down the aisles screaming "power hour!" They are giving candy and t shirts to anyone that makes a sale in that hour. It;s damn distracting because they just keep shouting over and over again until the hour is up. So we're trying to keep it together talking to our customers as they keep screaming at the top of their lungs. Did i mention that I'm super happy that i got moved to outbound calls?

Happy birthday Sis

A very happy birthday to my sister Su. I know she was concerned with getting older so i won't say how old she is turning. She's younger than me. Age is only a number. You're only as old as you feel. Some days i feel like a kid, some days i feel like i'm one hundred. Anyhow hope you have a great birthday Su.

A neck breaking good time

Hasn't been a lot to blog about this month. I did forget about the day that our maintenance person had to come do some repairs--and then locked me out of  our home. No i didn't have my keys on me. I left the door unlocked for them and didn't think about taking my keys. Came home for lunch and couldnt get in. So i had to go around the back and hop over our gate. I'm not a young guy anymore so i don't know what i was thinking. I got to the top of the gate and realized it was a long way down. I thought i was going to either split my pants or break my neck. Luckily i was ok. The thing that really sucked was that the repair they were supposed to finish never happened. So mad that day. Yup almost broke my neck just to get a sandwich.

Free dvds? Yes please

So after the wedding we went for a drink to wait for the reception. While we sat there drinking our pop Kath got an email. More good news for the Stewarts. We won a 100 dollar shopping spree from that video/book store I'm always raving about- Entertainment deals! Sunday we went to collect our prize. I gotta tell you it took awhile to find 100 dollars worth of stuff. We did it though. Kath found  2 cookbooks, Diana found to childrens dvds. I found 2 books about Bruce Springsteen and The Monkees and several action dvds. The dvds included, Swordfish, Maverick, Conspiracy theory, the losers, Blade 3, 3000 miles to Graceland and 16 blocks. I also found Stargate the movie on Blue ray. It was awesome.

In addition to the shopping spree we also joined our friend Kate at the flea market and then we all met up with Mark to have lunch at wimpys. Pretty awesome day if i do say so myself

Congrats Hunter and Kristen

Yesterday we attended the wedding of our good friends Hunter and Kristen. What a fantastic day and awesome wedding. They are a great couple and really deserve each other. We were honored to be there. There was a geek theme to the festivities. The ring bearer and flower girl dressed as characters from the zelda video game and there were video game songs played throughout the night. I worked with Kristen for years and it really wasnt until we started doing the show that we all became close. Hunter was actually teaching in Korea when we first became aware of him a few years ago. Kristen told him about our show and he would often jump into our Gygo chat room. We finally got to meet him last year and very quickly i realized he was   like  the cool little brother i always wanted. We really love those guys and  are very happy they  got married.

Denied again

So for a 3rd year in a row   the fan expo  has given us a great big f u . Once again we applied for press passes--over a month ago i might add and once again we were rejected. Third year in a row--third different excuse as to why not. This year we were told it was due to space restrictions. We're asking for passes for sunday--the slowest day of the 4 day convention. I can tell you why we were declined--fan expo is greedy.  There are thousands of people getting into  this convention and they can't spare a few passes? Last year we were told we were declined because they chose the passes in a lottery. I don't get it. The fine folks at wizard world call us and ask us if we want press passes. I don't see what the big deal is. I really don't. They've raised the price of tickets so we can't all afford to go. Kath and Diana are sitting this one out. Money grubbing sons of bitches. F U fan expo.

Too much wikipedia not enough work

How was work today? Yup you guessed it. I sat on my ass again all day not doing anything. It actually was a drag. I was falling asleep and i got a head ache. I was told our system would be fixed by Monday. Thankfully i won't be there tomorrow. There was only so much i could look up on the internet and by the time i did a search on the Brady Brides i knew it was getting ridiculous. Fingers crossed i have work to do on Monday. Never thought i would ever write that sentence ever

Eight hours of jack shit

Folks, pardon my french but today at work i did sweet fuck all for 8 hours. It wasn't by choice. The system that sends us our calls was down. So rather than go home in case it was fixed, we had to sit there and we were allowed to surf the net. I gotta tell ya, i was ready for a nap. It was so boring. I'm so thankful that its a short week. I have Saturday off so i only have to work 2 more shifts this week. Going to what i think is going to be a most excellent wedding on Saturday. More on that later in the week. I can't believe I'm gonna say this but i hope the system is fixed tomorrow so i can actually do work. I guess i'll find out in 10 hours.

They may be coming to your town

Holy crap. The surviving members of the Monkees are reuniting for a series of 12 concerts. Unfortunately as everyone knows Davey Jones passed away earlier this year. I figured that was the end of the band and there was no way micky Dolenz and Peter Tork would ever tour as the Monkees again. What makes this even  cooler is that my favorite member of the group--Michael Nesmith will be joining them. The monkees formed in the 60's and have done many reunion shows since 1986. Nesmith has only done a handful of shows with them since 1986. He hasn't shared the stage with them since 1997. I love his music and have his solo albums as well. I was trying to not get to excited about this figuring they would come nowhere near us to play. I was wrong. One of the 12 concerts is in Buffalo. Man i want to go so bad. They have said that they will be playing with a back up band but there will be a segment of the show where  just the 3 of them will playing  one of their albums in its entirety. So cool.

Kim And Trish

So it has been a really descent month. Work has been ok. Its boring work but at least no one is yelling at me every minute of the day. Enough about work though. Last night we had an awesome show. Our friends Kim and Trish were our guests. They know their stuff that's for sure. I met them years ago when i worked at a hell hole of a restaurant called the donut diner. I think on my first or second day there they started talking to me and a friendship was born. They helped me keep my sanity. We called each other the Super friends.  Man the show was fun. It was cool reuniting with the girls, had a fantastic time.

Can it be October now?

Well i waited until half way through August to blog. Not sure why. It hasn't been a bad month.  I do want to start the month off with something that made us really happy. So i did mention that Kath and i are doing a show from the Buffalo con. A few days ago The owner of Queen city books pimped us on the facebook page for the con. It was so cool. They are working with us big time. I can't wait. I've included the picture that was on the page. I am so looking forward to this. Its gonna be a blast.

kling kling!

Kath and i are very excited. We just lined up two of our oldest friends for the show on August 11. Their names are Kim and Trish. I met them 13 years ago when i was working at this shitty little dive called the donut diner. It may have been  my first or second shift. We became fast friends and they kept me sane many nights when it was just me serving coffee to drunk assholes. We took to calling each other the super friends. I can't wait till there on gygo in a few weeks. Its gonna be a blasty blast.

Boring is better

Had   a pretty good day with Diana Yesterday. We went  on a trip to macdonalds for ice cream and spongebob squarepants toys. I like our Mondays together. Unfortunately still not used to having Mondays off and its been throwing my week off.  Not sure what day it is anymore. It will probably take me a few more weeks to get used to it. Work has been boring. I would rather be bored than getting yelled at all day though.

Buh bye July

Last day of July. Ok it didn't completely suck. The van issue sucked and so did the loss of barney tickets. On the other hand the new job is good so far and i did get to see Huey Lewis and the News. Summer is going by so fast. Ugh its day 1 of 5 at work.Just said goodbye to the fam and i'm getting ready for work now. Enjoying a pop tart as we speak. Hope everyone has a safe  last day of July.

Amazing Spider man was amazing.

While I'm posting about movies i should mention the Amazing Spiderman. We got to see this one a few weeks back at the drive in. Now anyone that knows me knows i was totally against this film from the beginning. I was a fan of the Sam Raimi/Tobey Macguire Spiderman films. The 3rd film got a lot of flak. I liked it but it had its share of dumb moments. Too many musical numbers and too many villains. I always wanted Sam Raimi to come back and redeem himself with  a Spiderman 4. SHe got a script written to involve the villain the Vulture and the studio turned it down. Raimi quit followed by Tobey Macguire. Then came word that they would be rebooting the series, Spiderman would be back in high school again. "Bull shit" i cried. We don't need a reboot. This is the worst idea ever! I was not impressed and mentioned that on several Get Your Geek On shows.

I am a fan of comic book movies and i was curious about the movie. I was prepared to hate it. Funny thing is i didn't. I owe the makers of this movie an apology. It was a cool movie. It was the origin story again but i thought it was done in a better way. Andrew Garfield was an excellent Spider man/ Peter Parker. The movie was really well done. Can't wait for the next one.
