Oh yeah buffalo con!

I'm a little excited. Just got the announcement about buffalo comic con. As you know its a small con with great deals and its held every year in the fall. Its cheap to get in and there's tons of cheap comics there. We've been going to it since the day after we got married. Rob is gonna come out this year to. So here's to the fall sucking less than the summer!

Wednesday walking

Just got back from mostly comics. One thing i have enjoyed doing this summer is waking up on new comic book day and walking to get my books. Its about a half an hour walk each way and i take my ipod and rock out. Its the only exercise I've gotten in the last few months. On the way home there is a 711 so i always grab a big gulp. I like it. I don't know if i can continue to do the walk in the winter but we'll see. I picked up some good books today including the first issue of the new jla--the first official title of the new dc comics reboot. I can't wait to read it. Hopefully it won't be to crazy at work today. Fingers crossed

F U August

Wow i can't believe we're at the end of summer. July was so awesome and full of promise. And August? Well August sucked ass. Everything that could have gone wrong did. The only thing i can remember liking in August was fan expo. I only got to do one get your geek on,work annoyed me and it just felt like way too long of a month. August needed to be put out of its misery. I'm glad its over. I hope September is a worthy month. August was the like the Hitler month and July was like the fonzie month. Screw you august.

Mandate

Today was pretty cool. Diana and i went with Rob to the united states. We did a little grocery shopping,had a little pizza and chilled out. Then i had to get my ass to the most wonderful place on Earth. I'm being sarcastic i had to work. On the plus side i got to leave 2 hours early. I do love the voluntary down time. So gonna go eat some pizza and watch some tv. Have a good night

Starlight express!

Just wanted to announce the newest edition to the Stewart family--our new cat Starlight. Our friend Amy moved out west and we took her cat. She's really nice and friendly. She's not getting along well with Merlin yet, Hopefully that will change soon.

Saturday good times

I should note that Saturday was enjoyable as well. Woke up early to go to Ikea with Kath and Nickle. We hadn't been in a long time. I was just looking forward to a cheap 1.99 breakfast and cheap hot dogs. The food did not disappoint. Pancakes,eggs sausage and hash browns for a buck ninety nine. We also looked at furniture. Fan expo 2011

Once again fan expo has come and gone. After last years fiasco we didn't know what to expect. Would we have to wait outside in the sun hour an hour again? Would there be wall to wall people and no place to breathe again. One things for sure if it sucked this year we werent going to be going back again. This year fan expo was being held in a bigger room and we were going on the Sunday instead of Saturday. Maybe it would be ok. This was going to be my 10th fan expo and 4th with Rob. Because it sucked so bad last year Kath and Nickle were sitting this one out.

Rob and his son Anthony and some girls they knew picked me up at 830 am and we headed out. After we arrived in Toronto and parked we were escorted down into a deep parking structure. Anthony thought we were being horded in for zombie food. So we were off to a weird beginning. We were in a big crowd and it didnt smell very good. We didn't know how we were going to make it back up the ramp. Then the line started moving really fast. When we got to the bottom of the area we were able to purchase our tickets and right beside the ticket booth was the door into the con. Ok that was kind of cool.


We went through the door and immediately saw the dc comics booth so we headed there and picked up some free swag. We walked around the whole con to get a lay of the land. We could actually walk pretty freely. It was pretty cool. I found a dude that was selling a new trade paperback an hour for a buck or 2. For those of you that don't know a graphic novel can cost about 15 dollars and up. So i went back over the course of the day and got some Captain America and spiderman and assorted books. I'm a fan of cheap books.

A personal highlight of mine was meeting comic book writer James Robinson. He wrote my favorite series of all time Star Man and just wrapped up an enjoyable run of the justice league. He spoke with us for a few minutes. He was a really nice guy. We also said hi to Liana K who remembered us and get your geek on. She was nice as well. One regret was that we didnt get to say hi to Michael Shanks from Stargate. You had to get a ticket to stand in line to talk to him. W e didnt feel like waiting so we passed.

Found a lot of bargains. And had a great time. I wish Kath and Diana would have been there but maybe next year

I gotta say that fan expo was enjoyable this year. They've earned at least another year out of me.

Jay's geeky Christmas eve

So excited. It's like Christmas eve! Tomorrow Rob and i are attending fan expo. I hope i can sleep. Gonna be all kinds of free swag. Can't wait. I'll have a full report later.

Bannisters suck!

So the railing along my stairs has been an asshole this week. Monday as i was running up the stairs my work badge around my neck caught on the stairs and ripped right off. So now i have to carry my badge in my pocket and i know i'm going to lose it.

Yesterday as i was going upstairs to take a shower i bashed myself really hard in the man boob and it really hurts today. I guess i shouldnt be running up the stairs but that doesnt mean the bannister has to be a douche bag to teach me a lesson.

A mistake makes me happy

So a mistake was made on my pay check at work and i couldn't be happier. Let me explain. So as you know i started a new shift a few months ago. Because i was working until 1 am i was to get an extra 50 cents an hour. I've been doing the shift since July and didn't realize i wasnt getting the extra 50 cents an hour.

Anyhow why does this make me happy? Work finally figured out its mistake and i'm getting 19 extra hours of pay this week. Just in time for fan expo. Looking forward to the big paycheck.

Weekend is over

Wow the weekend was pretty cool. Saturday i spent the day with kstew and Diana. In the late afternoon i helped Rob move some furniture to his new residence. Spent the night watching movies with the family. A nice quiet Saturday. It rocked.

Sunday Diana and i traveled to the flea market with Rob and Anthony. I spent a whopping 3 dollars.

Kath has decided she wants to skip fan expo this year. Rob and i are gonna go together. Should be fun. I just have to get through 5 horrible days at work. I just have to be strong. I can do it! Stupid work.

Welcome glorious weekend

The weekend is finally here! I get 2 days off with my family and a return to the flea market with Rob. It seemed like it took a hundred million years to get through this week. Tonights shift dragged on. Had a few drunk customers. Its all behind me. Bring on the weekend.

Holy crap I'm getting really addicted to pac man on facebook. Man i miss the old arcade days from when i was a kid. I remember there was an arcade a few blocks away from our school and John and i would go in there and be late for classes every single day. I remember blowing all my money on games like donkey kong and dig dug and popeye. There's no arcades anymore and any video games you may come across are all stupid fighting games. I miss the good old days. I am so old.

Various topics while in a good mood

Well the week is kind of moving fast for me. This i like. Diana and i once again joined Rob for a trip to the united states. Diana got a new back pack and lunch bag for school. I can't believe its almost time for school again. I can't believe my baby is going into grade one! We're all getting older i guess.

Only 9 days until fan expo. We're hoping that its better than last year. If it hasn't improved this could be our last. Its the 10th anniversary of Kath and i going for the first time. We're at least going on the Sunday so hopefully crowds will be down to a minimum. I am excited that Diana is joining us this year. I can walk her over to all the booths and this year she can choose her own free swag. Most of the stuff i am looking for this year is for her. She wants her first graphic novel--Archie babies. I'm actually happy that she is starting to choose her own comics.

Thats about it for now. I'm in kind of a good mood. Hopefully that won't change at 4;30 when i arrive at work. Talk to u soon

Piece of shit Jay

Wow. I'm probably not supposed to feel proud right now. I made a dealer so mad that he called me a piece of shit and hung up the phone on me. So this dealer called in and he was rude to me from the get go and wouldn't let me get a word in. He asked me if i could add a promotion to a customers account and keep the promotion they already had, Now we normally don't let customers have 2 promos at a time so i had to go ask. The dealer was pissed at me for having to ask. It turned out it was ok so i added the promo,then the dealer mentioned i added the wrong promo even though that was the one he told me to add, So i changed it. The call was at the half an hour mark by this point but i got everything sorted out, Then the dealer announces that he has another customer for me. Screw that. We are only suppossed to take 1 customer per call from the dealers and he already had me at half an hour for the call. I told him he would have to call back. He started yelling saying i had to do what he said. I've been through this before and was told by a supervisor 1 customer per call. I have made exceptions in t he past but it was crazy busy in our call center and i wasn't taking another one of his customers. So he took down my name and badge number. He yelled some more and then asked for my badge number again. I told him i gave it to him already and wasn't repeating it. Then he called me a piece of shit--in front of a customer i might add and hung up on me. Its pretty bad but i felt strangely proud of this. Oh well. Tomorrows gonna be another day.

Weekend recap

I made it through the God awful midnight madness of Friday's shift. It was busy for the first half but died off in the second half. I could live with that. The rest of the weekend was pretty cool. Kath's dad came for a visit and introduced us to his new girlfriend. She seemed nice. W e had a pretty awesome barbeque. Following that we went to Jumbo video and picked up 3 dvd's for 20 bucks. Can't beat that. Sunday was pretty quiet. Rob is camping so we skipped the show this week. We got to hang out with our friends Hot Amy and Marcus. All in all not a bad weekend. Now i just have to stay happy when i have to go back to work on Monday. Lets be honest thats a pipe dream at best. Oh well I'll always have my quiet weekend to look back on fondly.

Jay is smoking something

So apparently i am smoking crack. How else would you explain me volunteering to work until 3am. My work is having a midnight madness sale and they asked all the people who work until 1 am usually to stay until 3. It will mean some extra money and i start 2 hours later then i normally would but there's only going to be 4 of us there and i don't even know yet what we are supposed to be doing. To quote the great Han Solo-I have a bad feeling about this.

Almost time for work

o k continuing on my angry week at work. Yesterday or wednesday if you will was ok. There were a couple of asshole customers but only a couple. The rest of the night was nice and quiet. I'm hoping that continues tonight. I just want a quiet evening,maybe read some comics and thats about it. I'm not in the mood to get yelled at. I'm not tired,i slept in so i'm hoping i will have enough energy tonight. Man i don't want to go in. Anyhow if anything earth shattering happens I'll write later.

Some Tuesday rambling

Hey its 1;30 in the morning and i just finished work. Yeah that positive outlook i was going to try lasted about 5 minutes after i walked in the door yesterday. I really hate my job a lot. Its getting hard to pretend.

On a positive note i did get to hang out with Rob today and he bought me a copy of Iron Man 2. Thanks man. He's been watching Diana a few times a week. Kath started her new hours. I appreciate it.

Could not wake up to save my life today. Came downstairs,made Diana breakfast and fell asleep on the couch. I kept waking up long enough to put her cartoons on.

Anyhow it is the end of the day so gonna grab some food,watch a little tv and get my ass to bed. Its going to pour tonight. Lightning is going off and I've been hearing thunder for the last hour. Yay.

Monday

Ok time to man up. I'm going to try and get out of this bad mood. Its a new week maybe work wont be so bad. I decided to shave as i was looking like grizzly adams. I even trimmed my goatee. I've been sitting here all day waiting for the maintenance guy. He's suppossed to come and check our plumbing. I figured he would have been here by now. Woke up early and i've been chilling on the couch waiting. I went out for about a half an hour to play catch with Diana. I feel even more tired now. I'm leaving for work in about 15 minutes. Maybe i will carry my fake good mood into tonights shift or maybe i will fall asleep at my desk.

Beardy

I'm in such a crappy mood this week i haven't felt like shaving. I never grow a full beard in the summer. Screw it i think i will let the beard come in. Take that life!

August starts off shitty

First blog of August. I've had a shitty week and haven't felt much like blogging. Its about to get shittier as i head to my shitty job. I will say i am lucky that i have friends like my wife and Rob who have helped me through this shitty week. Thanks guys. Now its off to another exciting evening of getting yelled at.
