Where's the cheese and crackers?

Watching New Years Rocking eve on tv right now. They're running old clips from the 80's and 90's when i was watching the show. Just saw Tears For Fears and the spice Girls and billy idol. Fergie from the black eyed peas is hosting. I can't believe i have friends that think she is gross. To them i have to ask---really? I'm just rambling now. Counting down to cheese and crackers.


Can't wait till tomorrow. We're counting down our favorite movies of 2011 on the show. This year kath and i are doing separate lists just to see how different they are. Can't wait. It's been 2 weeks since our last show. Oh yeah just a big shout out to John and Rach and Stacey for helping with the show in December.

Resolutions 2012

Well i guess its time to look back at my resolutions from last year and see how i did. Here's a recap


Jay's goals and resolutions for 2011

1) I'm gonna diet again and hopefully by the end of 2011 i'll be a slender reed. I want to drop some weight so i finally get to wear a costume to a convention.

2) ok seriously i need to relax at work. I'm going to try really hard to be calm around these assholes. If i have a heart attack at work the red necks win and we can't have that!

3) i want to make sure i stay in touch with all my friends a lot better than i did this year. I've already told friends like Dennis and Lisa we should get together more often. I want to at least email friends a lot more often.

4) more fun with the show. I want to try really hard to get more interviews this year. The more i do the better i will get at it.

5) ok i am running out of Party Of five actresses to have a 3 way with. This year i will try for Neve Campbell. She may have to take a day off of work from Macdonalds to accommodate this. Honestly I have the full support of my lovely wife Kath

How did i do?

1) Yeah the diet was non existant. I usually diet in the summer. Not this year. The diet was in the toilet.

2) ha ha ha. Yeah i'm never gonna relax at work. I've been downright angry at work. I tend to swear like a trucker. It ain't pretty

3) well i wasn't really successful at staying in touch with friends. Although i did hang out with Dennis and Andrea and Stacey.

4) ok i had so much fun with the show this year. We broadcast from the first Niagara Falls con,we also returned to wizard world where i got to interview an honest to God Kid in the hall.

5) can't believe the neve campbell 3 way was a bust. She wouldn't even return my calls.

Jay's 2012 new years resolutions

1) I'm dead serious about losing weight this year. My short term goal is to lose 10 pounds before Wizard World in August. I want to lose at least 20. If i cut all the crappy food i should be able to do it. Fingers crossed

2) i want the show to keep going. I want more interviews this year. I want to broadcast live from assorted geek events

3) ok i know i need to chill out at work. I hate the job but i have a family to support. If i have to be there i should try and be happy about it

4) i think i should take another crack at inventing time travel. I want to travel back to meet the guy who coined the phrase "the customer is always right." and punch him in the balls

5) ok i'm running out of party of 5 actresess to have a 3 way with. I think Paula Devicq the maildis still left so lets say her. I do have the full support of my lovely wife Kath. Seriously.



I really hope 2012 is a fun year. There were a few good moments here and there this year but for the most part i consider it a rotten year. We lost Hesh, I got moved to another jb that i dislike as much as the last one and i still feel like i don't know what the hell I'm doing. Some opportunities that i thought were going to pan out for me didn't. I'm gonna try and put all that behind me and work on having the best year possible. I have my family standing beside me and i have my health. So happy new year everybody.

New years feast

Man i am looking forward to new years eve tonight. We're gonna have a big Stewart family pig out, Steak and fries and cheese and crackers and chips. One last blow out before i buckle down and go on a diet. I want to lose 10 pounds before wizard world in April. I can do it! maybe?

Rochester bound

Yesterday we finally made it back to Rochester. Unfortunately it was a really sad reason that brought us back. Kath's aunt had passed away on Christmas day and yesterday was the funeral. Luckilly for me work let me have the day off. We found out the funeral was 9 in the morning so we had to be on the roadtro Rochester by 6;30 in the morning. Quite the early morning.

Guess how we started the morning? You guessed it--dead battery again! Hooray! and it was 6;30 in the morning. Again we got lucky. A very nice neighbour that we have never seen before gave us a boost. We were gonna have to do something about that pesky battery real soon. We arrived in Rochester a few minutes before the funeral. It was a really say event. I didn't know Kath's aunt really well but she seemed like a really nice human being. I have to say that i am so proud of Diana. She was so quiet and well behaved during the funeral.

Following the funeral we went to visit with Kath's dad and his fiance. We had a really nice lunch and they gave us some Christmas presents. My brother in law Jaime also showed up with our niece Victoria and nephew Jamieson. I couldnt believe how Victoria had changed. She is 14 now. I couldnt believe it. I met her when she was 2 years old. She seemed all grown up. I am very old.


We left a few hours later and visited a couple of new comic book stores. Of course we wanted to buy one of everything. I picked up a couple of comics and we left our business card. I can't wait to go back when we have more time. They were both cool shops. While we were getting comics we decided to go to an auto poarts store Kth's dad had recommended and we got a new battery. Whew. No more boosts at 6;30 in the morning.

From there we went to spend some time with our friend Rose--or bubba as i call her--its a Nash Bridges thing. Anyhow she had some nice presents for Diana. Man the kid got spoiled this year. She made out like a bandit. We decided to go for dinner and when in Rochester that can only mean one thing--garbage plate! A garbage plate is mac slad and french fries with 2 burgers coveed in onions and meat sauce. It is delicious. While we there we also got to see our friend Don. It turned out to be a really good day after alldespite the circumstances.

Happy birthday Kimmy

I just wanted to wish a very happy birthday to my super friend Ki. She and her husband Nick are celebrating their anniversary this week as well. Congrats guys.

Friendship is rare

Gonna give a shout out to 3 of my best friends who i got in touch with this week. First of all i will go on record as saying that i suck when it comes to writing to friends. I also am not a phone guy. I used to love talking to friends on the phone in my younger days but in my adult years not so much.


First of all i heard from my buddy Scott. I think we may have wrote once in all of 2011. Scott moved to England years ago. We both admit that we suck at the emailing. I always have so much i want to tell him but i am far to lazy to write. We wrote a couple of times this week. His emails always make me laugh.

Speaking of Scott back in 1988 he introduced me to another long time awesome friend--Andrea. We've been through a lot together over the last 23 years. I did actually get to hang out with her once this year at The Barney Bentall show in July. We also saw him 20 years ago in 1991. I know she reads the blog so i will go on record as stating we will hang out more in 2012. There's a ton of cool movies coming out that we should all attend. Kath and i were going to all kinds of movies with her in the past but our stupid work schedules never seem to sync up anymore.

This brings me to my third shout out.I wrote to my friend Allison for the first time in 2011 on Christmas eve. Man back in the old days we were actually writing letters to each other the old fashioned way. We've been friends since the early 80's and one of very few people i still talk to from high school. I think i may have dropped a mention a time or 2 that she suggested i try my hand at blogging in the first place. I just found out her daughter is going to be 12.That makes me feel really old as i remember her writing to me to tell me she was pregnant. I think at the time i had only been dating Kath for a few weeks.

Anyhow i just wanted to say that although i may have slacked in the writing department i consider the 3 of you to be really awesome and i am lucky that after all these years you consider me a friend. I am going to try harder in 2012 to stay in touch a little more often. I apologize in advance if at the end of 2012 i am writing an entry like this again.

Hot Amy where art thou?

Ugh. My hair is doing that stupid thing where when its starts getting too long iy curls around my ears. I miss my hair cutter/friend Hot Amy. She moved away earlier this year. She knew her way around a pair of scissors and she was easy on the eye. Curse you hair! Damn you and such.

10 years burning down the road

Yesterday was my 10 year anniversary of working at the call centre. Sadly there was no parade,no confetti falling down on me and no cake in sight. I did have my usual bad mood at work though. So that was nice.

Christmas day

So Christmas day 2011 arrived. It really felt like it snuck up on this year. It didn't feel like we were prepared--even though we were. Anyhow Diana came into our room around 8:30 to try and wake us up. She crawled into bed with us and lets us sleep until 9:30. it could have been worse. My nephew Devon woke my sister up at 9 in the morning. We went downstairs to see what Santa had brought her. She got some cool super hero toys and some stuffed animals and other assorted goodies. For writing the list only the night before, santa did pretty good.

Kath did some more baking and we headed out to the van at 1. We were about to drive to London Ontario to spend the holidays with my family. My sister Erin had invited us. Then disaster struck. We had packed the van and we were about to be on our way. Unfortunately the van had other ideas. It decided it didn't want to start. Awesome! Luckily my good friend John was home. He gave us a boost and saved the day. We got to London within an hour and a half and had an awesome dinner. Erin's boyfriend Jim is really cool. He's into Comics like Kath and I. We had a great time and eveytone spoiled Diana rotten. I ate enough cookies to choke a horse. It was cool seeing the family.

Christmas Eve 2011

So i haven't blogged in a few days. I was lucky enough to have Christmas off. This was the first year at my work where we were staying open. I don't get it either.

We woke up on Christmas eve day and cleaned a little bit. Kath did baking all day. We did our exchange with Rob and Nickle around noon.They got me a really cool wall hanging of the justice League. We're gonna hang it in the living room after the tree comes down.


Spent the rest of the day cleaning and watching Christmas shows. Kath baked. I even grilled chicken. I've never grilled on Christmas eve before. Thankfully its been a green Christmas.

Diana finally wrote a letter to Santa. A few days ago Kath took her to the mall to talk to santa. All day she had been rehearsing what she was going to ask him. When they got there Diana didn't talk to Santa--she is really shy. In this years santa picture Diana looks really pissed off. Santa said he would surprise her since she didn't ask for anything. So we tried to explain that maybe asking santa for presents on Christmas eve maybe wasn't a good idea. You know since he was already delivering presents at the time.

Oh and i should also mention--Diana never wants to go to bed early. Starting at 6:30 she was all set to go to sleep. Nice try Diana Rose. We put her to bed at 10 and then wrapped presents and watched another batch of Christmas shows. Got to bed at 4. We wee hoping Diana wouldnt get up to early.

Boxing day good times

Here in Canada its Boxing day. A day where everyone in Canada takes back the christmas presents they didn't like All the stores also have great deals. Unfortunately the stores are jammed packed with sweaty angry people. I honestly don't know what would be worse today--going shopping or having to go to work. I get to go to work! I am praying that people will be too busy shopping to call in to complain. My friend Hunter lent me a Stargate Atlantis novel and all i want to do today is read it. I'd rather be home. Diana and Kath are both here today. I feel rested up at least so maybe it won't be so bad. Ha ha ha i crack myself up.

Miss you pal

Wow i am in quite the sad mood. I've been sitting here writing to friends to wish them a merry christmas. I started thinking how this is our first Christmas without Heshy the cat in 17 years. Sure he used to try and knock all the ornaments off the tree. I think i actually miss that a little. I can't believe i'm tearing up now thinking about my orange buddy. Hey you know what doesn't help? Listening to a song called christmas won't be the same without you.

Oh yes i wil grow a doctor rush beard--oh yes

Well because it was snowing today and getting massively cold there's only one thing i can do. Grow my beard back. I have a pretty good start. I'm gonna grow a big ass doctor Rush beard from Stargate Universe. Yeah thats the ticket. Take that winter!

Diana's christmas concert was cool It was a play about penguins and Diana was part of the choir. It was really nice. As i stated before i got out of work early as well. It was an awesome day. I only have one more day of work until the holidays. I can't wait.

Speaking of Jack Bauer--Happy birthday Kiefer Sutherland. Please finally make that 24 movie. Thank you.

Dammit

I knew i was having to good of a week. My stupid dvd player died on me. To quote Jack Bauer "dammit!" Kath says that maybe in the new year we should make the jump to blu ray. I guess some blu ray players play regular dvds as well. I guess i'll have to wait til the new year to finish my greatest American Hero box set. Again i say 'dammit!"

Random nice things happenning this week.

Wow. So far i'm having an ok week. I passed a quality at work-finally. We passed our inspection as well. We've been getting Christmas cards and cookies. That makes me happy. Kath and i have even managed to catch up a little bit on our tv watching. I only have to work half a day today. Diana's school christmas concert is tonight so i'm getting out of work at 6. Christmas is this weekend. Should be fun. I have one more day of work until the weekend. Hopefully things will stay pleasant for the rest of the week. I might even be able to catch up on blogging.

Good mood to end the night

Its 1 in the morning but wanted to blog before my good mood went away. Tonight was our Christmas episode. It was our 3rd. Our good friends John and Rach were kind enough to appear. We had a great time. I wish it wouldnt have ended. It was our last show of 2011.I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. It's gonna be a long week. We're gonna do some last minute shopping on Tuesday. I hate Christmas shopping. Oh well. I feel like i accomplished a lot this weekend. Ok i can do this. I can have a good week. I can pass my qualities. I can stay positive. Next weekend will be fun.

cd less 2011

Wow here's something weird i just figured out. I love music cd's. I got my first cd player in 1989 and have bought cd's every year ever since. I realized that 2011 marked the first time in22 years that i didn't buy any cd's. We're in an age now where we can just go online and download music. There wasn't really a lot i wanted to buy this year, Strikes me as odd.I didn't even buy the newest Bryan Adams and i own all his stuff. Strange days indeed

Sunday a week before christmas

It's sunday afternoon. I feel like i barely made it to the weekend. Work was rough this week. I failed 2 qualities. I wasnt the only one. I swear they are making the qualities harder to pass. I was doing pretty good quality wise until i hit November. I don't get it.
Christmas is in a week and for some reason i don't feel prepared. We have most of our shopping done,and the tree and decorations are up. I kinda feel blah about the holidays this year, Not sure why. I'm looking forward to Christmas day though. My sister Erin has invited us up to London Ontario for dinner. Its about a 2 hour drive away. I used to go to London all the time to visit my buddy Scott. I really like that town. I've been there once with Kath to see Bryan Adams.

My weekend has been cool. Did some cleaning and decorating and watched a bunch of christmas stuff. Went out and got a bit of air with the kid. Hooray i have work tomorrow, Yeah i guess i am a glass half empty kind of guy. I wish i wasnt. Oh well.

Learning to Cry

Hooray i made it to Tuesday. Last night i got to speak to a customer who claimed his name was Tom Petty. Tom Petty is a hero of mine. Love his music. After talking to Tom Petty last night i came to the realization that Tom Petty is a dick. This guy really wouldn't back down. See what i did there? I thought he was going to have a breakdown The waiting wasn't the hardest part for him. I'm glad it wasnt the real tom petty. Heroes aren't supposed to be assholes.

Much like the boomtown rats-i don't like mondays

So its an hour and a half into my week and i already want it to be saturday. Diana was tired and in a very cranky mood. She spilled a drink all over herself so she had to change. She was ok by the time we had to walk to school. Kath has a long weird schedule this week so I'm barely going to see her. I have a headache and i can hear that my cat is throwing up under the christmas tree. All this and i get to go to the most wonderful place in the world in a few hours. My lovely job. Yay me!

Two weeks into December all ready

Holy crap. Tomorrow is December 12th and i have yet to blog this month. Holy crap. I can't believe that we're 2 weeks away from Christmas. That seems insane to me. We've gotten a little bit of shopping done. Work has been just flat out crazy. What else is new. Not sure what else to say in this here blog. I think I'm gonna go to sleep and I'll blog fresh in the morning. Have a great night
