going back to the real world sucks.

So because all good things come to an end,i had to go back to my dayjob on monday. I've been pissed off pretty much ever since. The customers have sucked,i've failed another quality and was just told that i can't have May 15th off for my daughters birthday. I may have to develop a cold that day. Man my previous manager so would have fought for me to have that day off. So needless to say i am very angry right now and am trying to calm down and vent through blogging. I'm on a one hour lunch which couldnt have come at a better time.

Nickle and Rob are coming over to watch v tonight so that may help to put me in a better mood--i hope. I have the next 2 days off as well. Oh crap i just remembered i volunteered to work 3 hours on Good Friday. Its extra money but son of a bitch i have to go back to that hell hole an extra day this week. Ok gonna get moving as bitter Jay is in full effect and i need to cool out. Ill 'talk to u later

Convention 2: The Wrath of Con

So when i last left off Kath had swooned upon seeing Christopher Knight. So was she able to pull it together for the interview? You bet she did. She's a professional. She didn't even ask him about the brady bunch which i found cool. She did mention her crush on him as well. From there we interviewed his wife Adrienne Curry. She was not only hot but massively cool and geeky. She was wearing a wonder woman costume and the whole interview was her talking about other costumes and star wars. It was awesome. We even had our pic taken with the 2 of them. It was cool.

Speaking of the photo's--a shout out to Nickle for all the awesome pics she took at the con. She took pics of all the interviews and a lot of the costumes people were weaaring. Sh was much better than the douche at the everything to do about sex show and didnt even bash a microphone into my face. Thanks for a great job Nickle!

Interview number 5 was with Canada's own fan girl Liana K. You might remember a few months back i had blogged how she had joined our facebook group. She has a huge collection of action figures and comics and i talked to her about it, She's also all about dressing up for the conventions. This time she was dresses as Cheetara from the Thundercats. Awesome costume. It scarred Diana a bit. Nickle got a cool pic of us with Liana as well. It may have been my favorite interview of the day as it was my third and i was starting to lose the nervousness. Liana even inspired me to maybe dress in a costume next time out.

We scheduled an interview with Gail Simone the writer of Wonder Woman for 2:30. It was only about 11:30 at this point. We decided to do some shopping. We all ended up finding really cool stuff. Nickle found some cool Green Arrow t shirts and Rob found some trade paperbacks he had been looking for. Kath got a shirt and an action figure of Duff the cake maker of all things. As for me i found a super friends book for Diana that i had been searching for. I got it for 9 bucks--regular 16 bucks. Also got 2 atom trade paperbacks for 5 bucks a piece nornally 20 bucks each. I found some batman themed little cars for Diana as well.

Had a little lunch,took more pics and i even got interviewed for another dude's podcast. It was pretty cool. At 2:30 Kath did an awesome interview with Gail Simone and had her sign one of her wonder woman comics. Rob and i interviewed 3 guys dressed like the ghostbusters who have a ghost busters pod cast. Speaking of which Ernie Hudson was a guest at the con and was even dressed in his Ghostbusters costume.

THen something shitty happenned, Someone decided it would be funny to pull a fire alarm. Everybody had to evacuate into the hall way. While in the hall way we joked around with Gail Simone and we got our pictures taken for the wizard world facebook page. Well pictures of my back made it anyhow. Anyhow we eventually made it back in and did more shopping.

Unfortunately the day had to end. It was such a fantastic day. Jerry the promoter seemed to be impressed with us and wants us to come back next year--possibly for the whole weekend--and set up a booth as well. Man that would be massively cool. I may even go in costume. I can't wait. It was a really nice con. Everyone was really friendly and it wasnt too crowded. I just wanted to Thank Rob for setting everything up amd Jerry for being cool and getting us interviews and press passes. Thanks also to Nickle and of course Diana and Kath for making this one of the best days i ever had,

Get your geek on hits toronto wizard con part 1

Well i have to tell you about one of the greatest days i ever had. Saturday Kath and Rob and Nickle and i went down to the wizard world comic convention in Toronto. There's a lot to tell so i will probably split it into a few blogs.
We went and covered it for the show and it was amazing. Rob had been in contact with a man by the name Jerry. Jerry was massively cool and got us press passes to get into the con. Real badges! I wore mine proudly. What did this mean for us? Well for starters it got all of us in for free! THey were also cool about Diana getting in for free as well. Also we didn't have to wait in line either--because we were press we got to walk right in. We were also granted access to the press/celebrity green room. I have to tell ya i kinda felt like a celebrity. It was an awesome feeling.

We had put through a request for interviews beforehand that at the time of arrival hadnt been answered. Rob being the awesome producer he is lined up our first interview--Erin Gray from Buck Rogers and Silver Spoons fame. She was really nice and still beautiful. I couldnt believe she was 60. She certainly didnt look it.
Anyhow i had the task of talking to her. Lets be clear--i was extremely nervous. Here was a woman i had a crush on when i was a kid and besides a bad interview with some klingons,this was going to be first official interview ever. So we began the interview and it went well. I actually mentioned my crush and asked if she got to ride the big silver spoons train. I thought i was being clever but i guess she gets asked that all the time. Rob and Kath said i did a great job. Gil Gerrard who played Buck Rogers was sitting next to her but we didnt ask for an interview.

Next up we spoke with an actor by the name of David Peck Richmond. Now i hadnt prepared any questions for the guy it was kind of a last minute request. He's on the new V series which is a remake of the 80's classic.He'd also appeared on some stargate episodes. He seemed like a cool dude. Rob helped me out with some questions. It went pretty smooth. Then we decided to go speak with Jerry to see what we could do about other interviews. Thats when we first got to hang out in the press room. On the way there i say a really gorgeous woman in a wonder woman costume. I didn't realize it was Adrianne Curry the wife of Christopher Knight aka Peter Brady on The Brady Bunch. Speaking of which we noticed he was walking behind her. Now a bit of history--Kath had a huge crush on him growing up. As soon as she saw him she started to hyper ventilate and began to cry. It was kind of sweet actually. Even after seeing this i was expecting her to go interview him. How did she do? Stay tuned for part 2 same geek time same geek channel!

This has gotta be some kind of hot tub time machine

For any of you thinking of catching a film might i recommend Hot Tub Time Machine. Kath and Rob and Nickle and i went and checked it out yesterday and damn it was good. It had everything you need in a movie--time travel and the 80's! It was funny as hell. The music was awesome as well. It was the soundtrack of my youth. Everyone that knows me knows i'm kinda stuck in the 80's. So i was in my glory during this movie. I loved it. So everyone should go see it and support it cause dammit i wanna see a hot tub time machine 2!

preparing for the con

Its 2:30 on Friday. Having a pretty good day. Pretty excited actually. Tomorrow we head to Wizard toronto comic con. Rob was notified about the press passes and hopefully we will be able to interview some celebrities. We put in a request to interview gil gerrard and erin gray from Buck Rogers and jewel staite from stargate atlantis. We should know tomorrow morning if our requests were granted. I've been trying to come up with questions just in case we are allowed. I'm actually starting to get a head ache coming up with questions. I just have a fear of sounding really dumb once we get there.

Just got back from taking a walk with Diana. Needed some air for a bit. I'm also excited that i'm not at work for 4 days in a row. I have to admit that work wasnt to bad this week. In 3 days i really only had 4 or 5 bad calls. People were generally nice this week. It was super dead on Wednesday and got off of the phones an extra hour and a half. It was pretty awesome. I may have read 40 comics at work that day. Good times!

Anyhow i gotta get back to work. Gonna get to bed early tonight. Gonna be a fun but long day tomorrow. Have a great night all.

wow i made it through my entire shift before i got seriously pissed off. It was on my last call of the day. Bastard calls in and no matter what i say to him he interrupts me by calling me "guy." I let it go until literally about the 14th time. I say my name is Jay actually. Didn't say it in a sarcastic voice or anything. He takes it as me trying to be a smart ass and demands a supervisor. Then he asks me for my name. Oh so glad you're finally interested in my name prick. So i had to get a manager involved for correcting my name. Yay.

I know tomorrow is going to suck. I have my fingers crossed that i wont fail another quality. IT would take a miricle at this point. Man if i can get through the next 2 days than i get a 4 day weekend complete with comic book convention. Hopefully i will have the energy and patience to get through the next 48 hours. Anyhow gonna grab a snack and watch some tv. Talk to u all soon.

Lazy Sunday

Man what a nice day. Its Sunday so i got to sleep in. Thats a plus right there! Hung out with the fam all day just catching up on some tv and working on the show. I love boring ass days! If i can just get through the next 3 days i get a 4 day weekend. We're headed to the wizard convention in T.O. next Saturday. Hopefully the week leading up to it won't suck. I especially hope i get through Tuesday or as i like to call it "Jay's new tm fails him on another quality" day. Good times. You know whay i think i will hold off on the negative talk until tomorrow. Despite having a cold i am actually having a great day. Hopefully i can hold off on this feeling for the next 3 days. Ok I'm off to get ready for tonight's show. Have a good one

Rambling on a Friday morning

Just thought i would check in. I feel pretty sick. i have a cough i can't shake. However despite this i had a pretty awesome day off today. I got to hang out with Kath and Diana. Rob and Nickle came over and we watched the first 2 episodes of Firefly. It's pretty good so far.

Work has been just awful this week. It was cool not having to go there today.

Researching stuff for the show next Sunday. Just read about sandra Bulloch's husband cheating on her with some gross lady with face tattoos. Something must be wrong with that dude. Seriously.

Going to my mom's house tomorrow. It was her birthday. She finally got a computer. It's been really cool getting messages on facebook from her.

Well I'm about done rambling. Gonna go get some sleep now. Hope everyboday had a great night.

Happy st Patricks day everybody! Sure wish i was at a bar with Scott drinking some green beer and watching the loud shertz or rick rose. Ah drinking in the late 80's/early 90's. Good times!

Crushing on Erin Gray

I'm in an awesome mood. Just heard from Rob. He contacted some people who are running the wizard toronto comic convention. We may be getting press passes for the event Which would mean we can get in for free! Rob is definately a golden God! We're also trying to schedule some interviews. Hopefully we'll get to talk to Gil gerrard and erin gray from Buck Rogers. Maybe i will tell Erin Gray i had a crush on her when i was younger. She was one of my first tv crushes. Well her and Daisy Duke. Anyhow very excited and March 27th cant get here fast enough!

Happy anniversary!

Nine years ago Kath made me the happiest man alive when she took my hand in marriage. I just wanted to tell her happy anniversary and i love her very much. Thanks for putting up with a nerd like me all these years and i hop we have many more together!

Ah the end of another glorious day at work. There were 2 calls of note to mention today. The first had 2 of my favorite quotes of the day.

So this dude calls in about his room mates account. There is an fcc regulation that if your name isn't listed somewhere on the account then we can't access the account until the main account holder adds them as an authorized user. Needless to say his name wasn't on her account. The account holders name was desiree something. I can't remember her last name. That's ok neither could her suppossed friend who was calling in. He kept asking a million specific questions that couldn't be answered because he wasn't an authorized user. It got boring saying "i appologized you're not an authorized user i can't release that information" over and over again. Finally after i couldn't say much more he said my favorite quote of the day:

"you're such an asshole. People like you shouldn't be allowed to have a job."

He then mentioned that he would come down to an office in person to access the account. I tried to tell him that even coming here in person his name would need to be on the account. To which he said my 2nd favorite quote:

um unless you're Desiree you won't be getting into the account dude. What was he gonna do --put on a dress and say he was her? Didn't get a chance to ask cause he hung up.

Does anybody remember the scene in Dude Where's my car when Kelso and Stiffler drove up to the drive thru and ordered chinese food? They ordered and after everything they said the asian lady would ask "and then?" Yup apparently i spoke with the same lady today. She was a korean lady and she was really pissed off that the telephone line to a korean representative was busy. Too many calls coming in and not enough people answering the phones. I swear i would say something like "i apologize you'll have to wait until its not busy."

swear to God the reply was

"and then?"

After about the 10th time of her saying that i really wanted to shout back

"no and then!"

She got really mad that i couldn't tell her how long a wait it would be to get someone and wanted to take down all my personal information. Apparently it was my fault the korean line was busy. What a kidder i am. I had to get her a supervisor because the korean line was busy and couldn't tell her when it wouldn't be busy. It was awesome. My manager laughed.

Ok gonna go grab a sandwich or something and do some more research for Sunday's show. Talk to you later kids.

catching up with the jay meister

The weekend was pretty cool. We got to talk to Rach for a little bit after work on Saturday. Then we went to Licks for dinner. We hadn't been there in a year and there hamburgers frigging rule! The fries ain't too shabby either. I finally got started on getting a passport. I had passport pictures taken. Terrorist beard and all. Can't wait to get back to the states someday. Diana got invited to a birthday party at Macdonalds and had a great time. I'm really happy she's making so many friends at school Definately doesnt take after her old man.

Watched both toy stories with Diana. She loved them. She was so good during them She didnt talk and all i heard out of her was laughing during the funny parts. So i think she is ready for her first movie at a theatre. This summer toy story 3 is coming out and i can't wait to take her. I think i was her age when i saw my first movie. It was The Disney Robin hood movie.

The show went great on Sunday night. Still having a lot of fun. Its fun working with Kath and Rob.

Went back to work today. I was actually in a good mood for the first 3 hours. Customers were all nice. After lunch is when all the assholes called in but i never really got into a bad angry mood. So that is a good thing. Its nice to be happy at work.

Well gonna go watch a few episodes of the simon pegg show Spaced. Gonna review it on next weeks show. So hope everyone has a great night.

Friday fun

Wow I'm feeling rough. Sore throat runny nose and dizzyness! A whoo hoo! Yay for me. I hope i feel better before tomorrow.

Had a good day off with Diana. We watched a couple episodes of Brave and the Bold. Diana started laughing hysterically because Batman went to another planet and got super powers. It was pretty funny. I burnt a bag of popcorn. That wasnt funny. Wow just realized i started this blog on Friday and never finnished it. I blame it on feeling sick. Maybe i was just lazy. Who knows. I imagine Friday was awesome because i wasnt at work. That seams plausible. I'm gonna move on. Next!

Thursday shenanigans

Man am i ever happy to have a day off. Yesterday was just plain horrible. I had so many people pissed off yesterday over the stupidest crap. After awhile my "pissed off" voice was making its way into every conversation i had. It was bad. I can't think of a specific example of something that made me mad. It all just blended together after awhile. Thank God i have my family here keeping me sane and cheering me up. Thanks Kath for putting up with my work stories and grumpiness. I guess i wouldnt have any material for the blog if it wasnt horrible.

Yesterday is nice and quiet. Just washing dishes and doing laundry and writing stuff down for the show. Gonna be our big academy awards show. I watched Toy Story with the kid today. Well i saw about 15 minutes ofit because i crashed hard. Diana loved it. Now we gotta ty and get her toy story 2. I have a feeling that Toy story will be her first movie in a theatre. I think i was her age when i saw my first movie in a theater. The Disney Robin Hood--you know the one where robin hood was a fox. Good times.

Well gonna finnish chores and get Diana some dinner. Have a great day everyone

March--ugh!

Welcome March! Why do u suck already? Man work has been brutal the last 2 days. No time to rest between calls. Non stop hollering. Yeah i know you've heard it all before and i do sound like a broken record.i got a Headache within the first 10 minutes of shift today. Unbelievable.

In actual good news i finally applied for my passport. I'll be annoying Nickle and Kath at Wegmans in no time!

Also making me happy just found out Kath switched her shift on Sunday so i get to do a live version of Get your geek on and i no longer have to wake up early to record Sunday morning.
