Get Your Flood on

Sunday arrived and it kicked my ass. I hadn't slept well the past few days. I had been up with Hesh and working the rest of the time. Sunday at work was so horrible. Customers were mad, dealers were rude and on several occasions i felt really dumb again. Am i ever gonna get the technical stuff? My calls are always long. I'm in the bottom 20. There's no way I'm gonna get a shift i want come July when the shift bid happens. I was really feeling rough. The only thing getting me through the day was Get your geek on. We'd be doing a new show at 8 with local artist John Bulmer. Little did i know that was gonna suck to.

Man i was excited for the show. There was going to be a lot of people listening. I got home from my shitty day at work and i was anxious to get started. Rob and John arrived and we started right on time. Show was going great. We were all in a groove and there was even new people in our get your geek on chat room. I was happy. Then around quarter after 9 disaster struck. There was massive thunder and lightning outside and the rain was coming down very hard. We noticed that water started seeping out of the window and down the couch. Not cool. We looked in the window well and it was filling up rapidly. So while still on the air i ran out in the pouring rain to bail out the window well. My arms and legs still hurt 2 days later. I was completely soaked. Rob and John stopped the leak inside. By the time i got inside there was only 10 minutes of show left. I was wet, sore and pissed off. But i made it through the weekend and i had 3 days off coming up to hang out with Kath and my friends. Fingers crossed its gonna be an awesome week.

Farewell my little orange buddy.

I've been putting off writing about it but it might make me feel better writing about it. Something awful happened on Saturday morning. We lost a member of the Stewart family. Hesh my cat of 17 years ago passed away. He was old and i know that recently he was slowing down. It still came as a shock.

I noticed on Thursday that Heshy was just laying around. He started meowing a lot and it sounded like he was crying. I started getting a really bad feeling. In recent times he was moving slower and not getting out of the way. I came home for lunch on Friday and i noticed he was laying on the floor in the same spot i had left him in the morning. I got him some cheese and he ate it but i still felt bad and i had to go back to work. I put him on the couch and went back to my stupid job.

I sent Kath a text and told her i was worried. She text me later when she got home and said he was still laying there and meowing. I came home and put him back on the couch and gave him some more cheese and tried to make him comfortable. I sat on the floor beside the couch and just kept petting him and telling him everything would be ok and that i loved him. At this point i had a really bad feeling that he wouldn't make it through the night. I decided i would sleep on the couch with him instead of going to bed upstairs. He was curled at one end and i went to the opposite end. As i laid down and shut off the light the poor little guy actually got up and snuggled up to me between my legs like he used to. It broke my heart. I'm tearing up as i write this. Anyhow i turned off the light but i didn't get much sleep. I kept checking to make sure he was still breathing. I dozed off a little bit. God bless our other cat Merlin. Usually if he saw Hesh and i laying on the couch he would jump up to. This time he took a look and layed down on the floor beside the couch. I think he knew.

Shortly after 8 i awoke to hear Heshy meowing a lot. I started petting him and a few minutes later he was gone. Kath was around to and we both started crying. I had him for so long and he was the first living creature i had raised. I had him for all the big moments in my life. Kath was around for 12 years of his life. He really was a good cat and just a nice little friendly family member. I loved him a lot. I know he's up in heaven with our other little buddy Barney who we lost 3 years ago. I'll always remember him and look back on our time together fondly.

B-day wishes for Kstew

So 39 years ago my future best friend and wife was born. It was probably the coolest thing God has ever created. Happy birthday Kath. Thanks for being there when i need you. You are the best, Have an awesome day I'm glad i get to spend it with you.

Thor was thortastic

Just chilling out her in front of the computer on a sunny Wednesday morning. Man these days off go by way to fast. Doing my usual Wednesday routine of finding stories and songs for next Sundays show. I got laundry in the wash and all is good in the world.

Hey it seems i forgot to write that a week ago Kath and i got a chance to see Thor. It's the latest movie based on a marvel comics character. It shares the same movie continuity with both Iron man movies, The incredible Hulk and the up coming captain america. Its all leading up to next summers blockbuster the avengers which will feature all these heroes in one movie. Thor was pretty cool and i really wasn't expecting a lot. The casting was amazing, the acting was great and it was pretty true to the comics. Bring on Green Lantern!

Well just gonna go back to working. Just wanted to check in and say hi.

I love not working

I had another descent Tuesday. I've been having a good time going to comics with Rob on Toonie Tuesdays. It turns out having Tuesdays off is pretty cool. We also took a trip to the United States to get some groceries. I'm still hoping that come July Kath and I will get a day off together. Looking forward to next Monday. Lunch and a movie with Kath on her birthday.

Sundays show was pretty good. Our friend Kristen was our guest. It went pretty smoothly. W e taste tested some taffy that had marvel super heros pictures on the wrapper. Good times.

I think I'm going to get some sleep now. I think i will write again tomorrow. Good Night everybody!

a swell day

Hey guys. I'm on my way to bed but just wanted to comment that i actually had a pretty good day at work. None of my calls were very long and no one told me to go f myself. I also managed to get May 30th off for Kath's birthday. So all in all not a bad afternoon. It wasn't to busy at work and actually got to finish some comics. What more could one want?

Wednesday stuff

Yet another day of rain. This seriously needs to stop. I hate it. You would hardly know its spring. UI can't believe we're 2 weeks away from June. What the h?

Yeah the Stargate universe series finale was sad and raised some questions. At least the geniuses at the syfy network have decided not to green light a final dvd movie wrapping things up. Yay.

The Smallville series finale was awesome. We finally got to see Clark fly and he got the superman costume. Man i teared up a little when he opened his shirt to reveal the superman 's' while the superman theme played. It made me feel like a little kid. It was great seeing Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex luthor to. It was a satisfactory conclusion. After 10 years im really gonna miss that show.

I'm doing the usual Wednesday stuff and finding stuff for the show and starting to feel sad i have to go back to work again tomorrow. It seriously was a rough Monday shift. Just as i was starting to feel a little bit confident i spent the shift feeling dumb again. Not a good feeling. Oh well its still over 24 hours away so gonna try and enjoy the day.

Tuesday

Last night at work was horrible. It was like working for the cable company again. The customers were rude and one of them even bid me a wonderful "go fuck yourself." It was so nice. I pretty much bolted right out of there at 10 and didn't look back.

I'm happy to be off today and looking forward to another fun filled trip to pulp comics with rob. Later we're going to watch the final episode of Stargate universe. It will be sad. The show was cancelled and next fall for the first time in 15 years there won't be any new episodes in the stargate franchise. That blows. Gonna miss it a lot.

I think i'm gonna go grab something to eat and get ready. I'm pretty tired but i'm in a good mood. Just sitting here listening to the monkees. Less than a month until the concert, We're very excited. Just read they are doing 40 songs during the show. That is a lot considering they are in their late 60/s. That's incredible to me. Anyhow i feel like i am rambling now so gonna say see ya for now.

Mondays--blargh.

Not looking forward to work today. It's a gloomy gross day. Always hard to go back after 2 days off. On the plus side my supervisor Carlo is pretty cool. My stats went down a tiny bit last week--i need that trend to continue so i can pick what shift i want. Oh well at least i just have to work today and then i get 2 days off.

The show went smoothly last night. Paul from pulp comics couldnt make it in after all. He'll be on at a later date. Rob hooked up another computer down stairs. It really is a cool little studio in our own basement. It rocks.

Ok going to catch a couple of hours of sleep before i have to go in. Have a good day everybody.

How is she 6?

Six years ago today my daughter Diana Rose Stewart came into my life. Sometimes i still can't believe that I am somebody's father. I've said it before but although she wasn't planned i can't imagine life without her. She constantly makes me happy and i wish she would slow down. I can't believe she is 6 already. She's losing her baby teeth and she will be in grade one next year. What happenned to that little baby that would lay on my chest watching Stargate with me? Anyhow happy birthday Diana i love you a lot.

Saturday party

Hey everybody. Happy Saturday. I booked the day off of work so we could have a birthday party for Diana.Her actual birthday is Monday but we had friends and family over today to celebrate. It was really fun. Kath made an awesome cake and i grilled hot dogs. Diana had a great time as well and was as good as gold. I enjoyed not working. Can't believe the kid is gonna be 6 years old, Doesnt seem right.

Cool Wednesday

Well day off 2 of of 2 is about over. Besides my new tooth ache it was pretty cool. Rob and i went to Pulp comics for our weekly toonie Tuesday trip. I bough some pretty cool comics. Oh and i found out i won a draw on free comic book day for a really awesome hard cover absolute version of the Watchmen. I couldn't believe it. Its an awesome story and I've always wanted to own the book. S o thanks to Paul for picking my name. I never win anything.


Today was cool to. Hung out with Kath this afternoon and got the kid some birthday presents. This evening Diana and i went for our first macdonalds ice cream trip of the year. We hung out with John and Rach for a bit as well. Tomorrow its back to the old grind and we'll see if i failed a quality. Tune in tomorrow folks.

F'ing Tooth

It took 41 years but i think I'm getting my first cavity. It hurts if i touch my tooth or touch food to it. It seems ok for the time being. I think I'm gonna call Rob's dentist and try and get in next Tuesday or wednesday morning. Awesome. I guess i won't be chewing any gum between now and then. Oh well. Such is life i guess.

Stupid good for nothing dealers

Back to work Sunday and Monday and what a miserable experience. I was trying to keep it together on Monday because my manager usually qualities one of my calls. The first half of the shift was kinda sorta ok. Then after lunch i was pissed off. First of all i had a bad tooth ache which was hurting the whole right side of my face and head. Then it was call upon call of dealers not listening to what i had to say. Why do you call us if you don't wanna listen? Eventually i just started sounding angry on every call. Here's a quick exerpt from a dealer call

Dealer: A customer is here at the store checking to see if we can port his phone number from his phone company to ours

Me: No problem i can check and see if its portable

Dealer-I already did that.

Me: ok (sounding confused)

D: They don't have their account number from the old company

Me: I'll check with a supervisor and see if there's a way around that.

I check with a supervisor and go back to dealer

Me: ok we just need the serial number of the phone if they don't have the account number

D: (clearly not listening to me)but what about the account number?

Me: the customer doesnt need it just the serial number

D: But they don't have the account number.

i swear i repeat this at least 3 or 4 more times

D: but we don't know if the phone is portable.

Me: (Now i'm really getting pissed) i thought you said you checked that already

D: checkered? (yeah that's what i said --checkered)

Me: at the beginning of the call i said i would check to see if we could port the number and you said you did that already

D:(now lying to me) I never said that

the call goes on at least another 5 minutes making this a 15 minute call that didn't need to be more than 2 minutes


Later on in the night i had a guy i was trying to give instructions to get his voice messages working. I was going through a long list of steps he should be doing on his phone and it seemed like he was doing it. Then at the end he asks--did you want me to try this now? Then asks for the instructions again. I sarcastically ask--do you think you might want to write the instructions down this time? Hoping thats not the call that gets qualitied--i read if you sound sarcastic on a call you will fail and get a zero. So that'll be nice. I'm just happy to be home listening to music and blogging. I do like my days off. I'l worry about my possible zero mark when i go back Thursday.

you aint breaking my fence down

So while getting ready to go to sleep on Saturday night I hear voices coming from my back fence. I hear somebody say they are going to jump the fence. Wait, what? I then see a flashlight shining in our yard. Ok this is starting to get f'ed up. So i run upstairs to see if i can hear or see anything. I hear someone say they are going to break the fence down. Kath wakes up and calls the police. I go upstairs and i see the cops arrive and then the guys with lights say they are looking for a cat. Not once do i hear them call a cats name just talk of breaking into yards. They seem pissed that we have called the police. What do they expect when they're prowling around in the middle of the night. It took a few minutes for my heart to stop beating really fast. Eventually things are back to normal and we go to sleep

Fun day with the stewart family

I had one of the best days ever on Saturday. The fact i didn't have to work was pretty sweet in itself. The Stewart family had a very busy day. We woke up fairly early. Why you may ask? Well it was free comic book day! Once a year all the comic book stores in North America get a bunch of comics from the different publishers and give them away for free. It was actually the 10th anniversary of this. We went to Pulp comics in the falls around 10 in the morning and met up with Rob and Nickle. Paul the owner was dressed like Han Solo and there was a guy dressed like the flash putting up balloons. Paul actually let people choose 2 of the free comics each. That was pretty cool. I would have stayed there all day if i could have but we had other stuff to do

We went home for 11 because Kath's dad was meeting us. Diana had her dance recital at 1:00. So we came home and met up with her dad and soon went to the reciatal at Ridley college. We weren't sure what to expect. Diana had been going to classes every week since last fall but she would never show us what she was learning. We were hoping she was going to be good. We shouldn't have worried she was perfect. You could tell she was really concentrating. All the kids were awesome. If we can swing it Diana will be going back to class in the fall.

From there Kath's dad took the 3 of us and Nickle to lunch at Perkins. It was very nice of him. Then we hopped in the van and went to mostly comics to buy our weekly books and see what free comics they had. They had saved a bunch of kid comics for Diana. Diana spent the rest of the day reading through the smurfs and archie. Well thats not entirely true because she had one more recital to dance in at 7. While she was there kath and i got some groceries. After we picked Diana up we took her to macdonalds to buy some batman toys and zooble toys. It was a full day but it was a fun day. I'm really proud of my kid. She is a really good dancer. What a great day

no work makes jay a happy boy

Its kind of cold today and i've spent the morning cleaning up cat vomit--still beats the alternative of being at work. So as i mentioned last week there was a power outtage.This was due to a tornado like wind. All night the wind was blowing,knocking down fences and uprooting trees. We were without power for a day and cable and internet for 3 days. I shouldn't bitch because i know some people that were still out on Monday. I'm just glad a tree didn't fall on our house.

So just chilling--trying to find some stories for the show next week. Not finding a lot of stuff for some reason.

Hot Amy is coming over later to cut my hair. I'm at the stage now where my stupid hair is curling up around my ears. I hate that.

If its not raining will probably take Diana to macdonalds for supper--they have batman toys in their happy meals! Yeah i am such a geek i know.

Thank God May is here

Hey everybody. It's May! Lot of cool happenings this month . Next Saturday is not only Diana's first recital but also free comic book day. The week after that is Diana's birthday and the movie Thor is out. Oh and there's a new Green Lantern trailer out tomorrow as well! April ended on a down note with power outtages and storms and all kinds of nasty weather. I am welcoming May with open arms. I just worked 5 days in a row and i'm very happy to finally have a day off. It's raining out but i'm in a good mood. Rob and i are continuing our new tradition of hanging out on Tuesdays. Probably gonna hit pulp comics and watch a little stargate. Looking forward to it. Did i mention i don't have to be at work today? Anyhow I'll check in again a little bit later.
