Rip Mr Harrison

Wow. Just read that its the 10th anniversary of George Harrison's death. He was my favorite Beatle. He had so many great songs. Everything from My Sweet Love to Got My Mind Set On You. He was also in an amazing late 80's group called the Travelling Wilburys. I also became a huge fan of Tom Petty as a result of that band. R.i.p peace George

AND the hits keep on coming

Its Wednesday and the week hasn't gotten any better. I've gotten sicker,it rained for a full 24 hours and today i slept in causing Diana to be late. I wish it was the end of the week. Yup i think I'm just going to whine and complain today. Thats a nice attitude.

This truly was a Monday

What a fantastic day. I woke up sick. My nose has been running all day. It was beyond crazy at work and i got my 3rd manager in a month. Its pouring rain outside as we speak. Only 4 more days until the weekend.

another long week ahead

Yuck. Here comes another week of crappy shifts. Had an awesome weekend. Spent Sunday with my family. We went to the new muppet movie and it was amazing. There were spots in the film that made me tear up. Kath lovd it--she's a lifelong muppet film. I love going with Diana to the movies. She sits there and listens and laughs in all the right places.

Had a nice dinner and did an episode of Get Your Geek on. Three more episodes left this year. Kath's friend Mark from work did the show tonight. He's a cool guy.

Ended the night with the walking dead, The last episode until February was on. It ended so f'ed up.


I really hope this week goes by quickly. I'm really not looking forward to another crazy week at work. A slow week would be great. I'm not going to lie--u would love it so much if its dead in there this week. I just want to see my friends and read some comics. Thats the dream.

Yup not a fan of dealers

I spoke with a dealer the other day and i swear to you he said his name was awesome. He was far from his name. His name should have been useless. Thats all i have to say about that.

Muppet time

Had a muppet filled afternoon with Diana today. Tomorrow Kath and i are taking the kid to see the new muppet movie. So to prepare myself i watched the muppet movie, the muppets take manhattan and muppet treasure island. I'm almost completely muppetted out.That being said i am really looking forward to the new movie. Can't wait to see Kath's reaction to the new movie. She is a lifelong muppet fan and i imagine she will giggle a lot. It'll be cute.

Super friends reunion

Thursday night we went to the christmas party for Kath's work. It was a little different then years past. This year in addition to dinner there was a magic show. It was in a theater in Niagara Falls that i didn't know existed. I'm not much of a magic guy but the show was really cool. I was impressed with all the tricks. The magician had some cool tigers too.


Actually the highlight of the night was seeing my friends Kim and Nick again. Kim is an old friend who works with Kath now. I had first met them over in 1999 when i was working the midnight shift at the donut diner. It was a shitty job. I got the midnight shift and it was all drunks and crazy people. I think i met Kim on my 2nd or 3rd night there. It was around this same time i met Mike and Trish and Adriel. I soon struck up a friendship with them and started hanging out and going to movies and karaokee and stuff like that. They truly kept me sane at that job. So many great stories from that time. I called them my super friends I stayed in contact with Mike and Adriel after i left the diner and lost track of Kim. When facebook started up a few years ago i reconnected with everybody. Last night was the first time i hung out with Kim in a decade. it was really nice.

Forgot to wish our American friends and family a happy thanksgiving yesterday. Diana has started calling American thanksgiving-fake thanksgiving. For me it just means that sometimes i get 2 thanksgiving dinners. I do love the turkey. I will say i am thankful for our american friends and family and can't wait to see them all now that Kath has her passport.

Passport--finally

Good news for the Stewart family. Kath got her passport yesterday! This means we can visit friends and family in the United states again. I haven't crossed the border with Kath since last January. Its going to be cool. We could go over every 2 weeks if we want. I have weekends off and Kath has every other weekend. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Rob for carting my ass over there for groceries all year. It was much appreciated.

Kath rocks

I just want to go on record as saying i have the greatest wife ever. Sunday morning she surprises me by taking me to Toronto to a comic book convention. It was a small con that i had completely forgotten about. We packed Diana into the van and took off. There was no traffic and we got there pretty fast. It was a little bit crowded though. I was able to find some cheap comics and trade paperbacks and we capped the afternoon off with some hotdogs and fries.

On the way back Kath noticed a sign for a fancy grocery store she wanted to check out in Oakville. There was all kinds of samples and we also had spicy ice cream. On the way out of there we discovered a comic book store called conspiracy comics. Nice little shop. It reminded me of the comic book store that the big bang theory guys go to.

Thanks Kath for being my best friend and for always having my back. You're the best!

Welcome back Boss

Ok how about some stuff that did make me happy this week. Kath sent me a link showing that not only will Bruce Springsteen be putting out a new album in 2012 with the e street band but he will also be touring. Kath has already confirmed that we can go. I can't wait. It will seem weird seeing him without Clarence Clemons though. Listening to Jungle land as i type and tearing up a bit

Horrible day for Jay

Man did i have a rough day. We were supposed to have a unit inspection today. I spent the last week cleaning when i could. The inspection never happened and won't for another 2 weeks.

Diana woke up sick. She was actually crying. There was no way she was going to school today. So i kept her home and we each took a couch to crash on. I unfortunately woke up around 10 to one when Kath was getting home and i had to leave for work at quarter after one.

I also saw that our Get Your Geek on site was down. I didn't know at the time that it was just maintenance so i panicked. We can't do a show without that site.

Work turned out to be shitty as usual. Luckily i got to sit by my pal Trish who made me laugh and cheered me up.

I really want this week to be over.

Dealers= fun

So have i mentioned how much i dislike the dealers at our cell phone stores? They always call in and they don't know what they're doing.They never want to finish their own work orders or credit the customers. They constantly make mistakes on the account and sometimes we can't fix it on our end. When we can't fix it on our end they get really pissed off at us. I always kid that i want to go to dealer school because it seems like an easy gig.

Anyhow on Friday i had to go all Jack Bauer on a dealer. The dealer was trying to cheat the customer out of a refund. We have a policy that if you don't like the service or if you have any issues then you can return the phone within 14 days after purchase and get a refund on the equipment. The service itself is a different situation. If you want a refund for the service then you have to return the phone within 7 days and you cn't be over 30 texts or 30 minutes of talk time.

So a customer called me and the dealer had refused him a credit for the phone. It was 3 days after he bought it so he was well within his right to ask for a credit. However he was over the 30 minutes so he wasn't going to get a credit for the service. The customer understood that. He asked me to talk to the dealer. No problem. Here's what i heard in the background

customer to dealer: "can you talk to him?"
dealer: "no he can call me back if he wants to talk to me."

what the hell? Who is that being helpful to?

cust to me: " he says you need to call him back.


screw that so like i said i reached down deep inside and channeled my inner Jack Bauer

Me: "no put him on he's going to talk to me now."

dealer gets on the line all cocky and obviously doesn't know what he's doing. He's confused the return policy of the phone with the return policy of the service and tells me he's not crediting the phone itself because the customer is over the 30 minutes of talk time. So i explain--slowly i might add--the policy of returning the phone

Dealer: "so what do you want me to do about it?

Me pissed by this point: "You're going to refund the nice customer for his phone."

I'm not sure if i helped or not.I don't think the dealer ever processed what i was saying. I would love to be a fly on the wall at dealer school. I've yet to meet a helpful dealer.

Happy half birthday little devil

SO Kath pointed out to me that yesterday was Diana's half birthday. She is 6 and a half years old. We celebrated it with the gift of cake. Happy half birthday buddy!

Diana the report card queen!

As i already mentioned in an earlier blog i an super proud of Diana this week. As if i couldnt get any prouder,she kicked ass on her report card.They don't get marked on a grading system but they mention everything she does well. Apparently she is awesome at everything. She is reading at a grade 3 level in grade 1. I'm happy that she took after Kath in the brains department.

Can it be the weekend already?

Hooray! The week is half over! Yesterday was just a total shit fest at work. There were outages everywhere and a new 50 percent off sale. Customers were ruder than usual. I know right? Had a huge head ache by days end. There was some swearing on my part. Couldn't wait for the clock to strike 10. To be blunt the day sucked balls. Finger crossed this day will go smoothly. I'm already counting the seconds until the end of the shift. Anyhow gonna go nap for a bit. We'll talk soon

Remembrance day

Forgot to mention that last Friday Kath and i went to Diana's school for a remembrance day assembly. All the classes in the school sang songs and read stories about remembering the soldiers who fought in the war. Diana's class sang a song about poppy flowers and then read out loud a play about being brave. Diana remembered her lines and was great. I was proud. Lets be honest everything she does makes me proud.

What happenned to the weekend?

Man that weekend went by way to fast. It felt like i blinked and missed it. At least i'm back at work. Yay. Four more days until the next weekend! I drank my first pop in a week yesterday. I also had 5 waters. I don't think i need to totall give up pop but i do need a better balance. Maybe 2 pops a day compared to the 5 or 6 i was doing. My sleep schedule is a little better since i started the new shift. I'm not as tired as i used to be. Did i mention only 4 more days until the weekend? Sigh.

Productive saturday

Hey everybody. I had a pretty productive day off. Diana and i went for a walk to her school and then to the new flea market. The flea market is coming along nicely. Not all the stalls have been filled yet--still hoping for some toy and comic book vendors. At least its in walking distance. I do miss the macdonalds toy selling lady from the original flea market though.


Did some cleaning to. W e have clean up at our complex next weekend so thought i would get a head start. I started with the hall closet and i don't think I've cleaned it since I moved in here. Found some interesting items in there. Some old entertainment weekly magazines from 2007 and even a mixed cd of unreleased Bruce Springsteen material i had downloaded. Its still only about halfway done cleaning the closet. Then its on to Diana's room.

Watched some shows with Kath after she got home and now sitting here blogging and working on tomorrow nights get your geek on. My day was ok. I can't complain.

the ufo whisperer

Yay! my neighbour has already put up his christmas lights that are brighter than the sun. The good news is that they stay on all night. I swear if you look outside at 1 in the morning it looks like 1 in the afternoon. I love it. It looks like he's trying to signal a ufo to land on his property. We call his lights the landing strip. So hooray for us!

Movember

Hey i forgot to mention that I'm taking part in Movember. Yup that's November with an m. Movemeber is where you try and raise money for cancer by growing a mustache. So on Novemeber first you make sure you are clean shaven and then the fun begins. I hadn't been clean shaven in about 10 years. Diana had never seen me without a beard. So i shaved and slowly I've been growing a mustache. I haven't been doing to well with the donations though. I've asked a bunch of people and haven't gotten a response yet. Hopefully I'll get some donations by the end of the month. I sure can't wait to grow the beard back.

The great pop experiment

Wow its really taking me a long time to blog this month. So on Sunday i decided to do an experiment for a week. I've gained some weight lately. Part of the reason for this is that i have stopped drinking water which isn't good. So for a week i'm going to try and go with no pop. So far i'm on day 3 and not sure if i like it or not. I've had a headache for 2 days and i have felt pretty tired. I almost fell asleep at my desk yesterday. On the plus side i'm getting about 6 waters in a day. So there's that. Anyhow We'll see how i do next Sunday. Maybe i will drop a few pounds. That would be swell

First blog of November. Only took 8 days. Had a great weekend. Its been a long time since Kath and i got to spend a whole weekend together. This new schedule might be ok after all. Its still taking some time to get used to it. Last week wasn't to bad, It was slower than i expected. It was nice getting home at a descent hour. I got to tuck Diana in and read her bedtime stories. The only drawbacks so far were--there's a lot more calls from dealers and as you may have guessed-I am not a fan of dealers. Its also hard to find a seat because when i start during the day everyone is there. Other than that its been ok.
Saturday we went to a craft show in Oakville. We got a few early Christmas presents. We also did a little grocery shopping and went for comics. Sunday we checked out the new flea market and finally got Kath's passport information mailed out. Soon we can go back to the states together again. We're hoping her passport will be in before Christmas so we can go see family and friends.

Well I'm rambling now so you know what that means? Yup its time for a nap. I'll write later. Take care.
